OT: All purpose Music thread

Spiritbox is going to end up being the best Canadian band of all time. Their music is helping me cope with this bloody awful playoff series

Seems like these guys only hit the scene recently, any good recommendations?

Lots of great candidates for best Canadian band/singer-songwriter of all time.

Beyond the usual notables like Cohen, Downie, Joni Mitchell, etc... my more obscure top 5 shortlist:

John K Samson
Leslie Feist
About half of Broken Social Scene
Diana Krall
Mac DeMarco

They're not obscure if even I know them! ;) (didn't know Mac DeMarco was Canadian though; learn something new every day!)

I'm not current on music, so how about a few bands from 10-20 years ago:

- The Organ (fantastic short-lived female-fronted rock band)
- Black Mountain (throwback psych rock)
- The Constantines (amazing live; memorable performance at Babylon's about 20 years ago)

If we're going back 10+ years, I'll add:

- Alvvays
- Tokyo Police Club
- Sarah Harmer
- Kathleen Edwards

Constantines are awesome - really got into them in University

Alvvays is great! They're still releasing new albums, or at least they had one recently (for old people like me, 5 years ago would count as "recent").

Alvvays is awesome. Got to see them for free at Mooney's Bay for Dragonboat festival a few years ago. Phenomenal live band
