he is great, however, it is better to resign him after the expansion draft unless leafs will sign him but unprotect him.
Right plus it's really then no loss if they where. Plus everything Toronto had done for him could wind back up here or anywhere really to risky to expansion draft unrestricted free agents. So totally agree just feel more should see it that way.

A) there would be a hand shake deal till after the exp draft

B) he has seen the what the arm pits of the league look like and it almost ended his NHL career

His agent is JTs,,he is considered to be a hard arse/greedy SOB BUT Korsh was/is a solid prospect

No way KD makes that trade ,spends those assets , time/money/risk in saving AGs career just to "hey thanks guys" and then goes and cashs out,,KD and AG agent have had that talk
Dubas said he was fine with rentals and that he was willing to trade a top prospect, Korshkov was very fringy.

I dont think there's any way that Galchenyuk turns down 4x4 if its out there for 1x1 to stay here

Nobody out there is offering 4x4 for a guy who cleared waivers though, not even Seattle. He's playing good right now but I bet he signs near 1-1.5 at least for a year or two to stay and get better before chasing a bigger pay.

I just wonder when the time to pull the trigger is. Like if anything short of 1.5ppg the rest of the way means he gets a one year deal, then I probably wait for a larger sample and maybe until after the expansion draft because he probably comes back to a situation that's saving his career. But if a 60pt pace gets him a multi year deal that won't fit in our cap then maybe it has to happen sooner.

Assuming it does in fact occur, I can't imagine he officially re-signs until after the expansion draft. He could be signing elsewhere if he somehow progresses from clearing waivers to multi-year deal that quickly though. He obviously has the pedigree of being a former 3rd overall draft choice. I'm still not certain that's enough to receive term on his next contract.

That's what I was asking, like is there any level of performance the rest of the way that results in a multi year offer for him that he couldn't turn down? I used 4x4 as a bit of hyperbole, but 2-3 years by 3ish?

I tend to agree with you

If Kerfoot can get 3.5 aav, and chuck continues improving the rest of the season, he may get a good deal from someone

Here's my thinking from his perspective:
- he's made about $24M gross in his career, so probably $12M after agent fees and taxes. Enough to live on forever, but not boats n hoes money
- if he got back to his career peak this year or bested it by a bit but didn't absolutely go off to 1.25ppg+, then I could see him getting a 2-3 year offer at up to $3Mish but not a lot more given the flat cap. So like $6M net to add to his $12M so far
- if he stayed a year and maintained that type of performance in the same situation that rejuvenated his career, then I think he's looking at the JVR contract, especially as teams are gearing up for a cap inflating again after next year. So that's like $35-45M gross, $20Mish net to go with his $12M so far.

If I'm him, I bet on myself knowing that I have a pretty good safety net already.

So from Dubas' perspective, I wait to see what I have but make my intentions known to him as soon as I know I want to bring him back

Yes but you're a stats guy and you know as well as anyone that it's shooting% luck that's killing them right now. If you keep dominating chances and shots eventually they go in.
I agree they've been very good, but I don't think it's an indication that Galchenyuk will always be an elite top 6 forward and the Leafs shouldn't even bother looking to add a forward

What is he scores the double OT golden goal to knock the Habs out in game 7? :sarcasm:

Hahaha
Man what a twist that would be
Thing is with Chucky
I relate to his story

I was happy when Lars Eller finally got traded to Washington AND won the cup after the disrespect he had to endure in Montreal
playing second fiddle to a guy whos no longer in the league

Was happy when Radulov went to Dallas to play with a real #1 center and went to the Finals

Same with Subban and Pacioretty. All these guys went to the Finals, while our "character" got us in the dumps (we had character, you had truculence).

I digress.

f*** yeah Id buy it!!!!

He and Nylander seem to have a lot of telepathic chemistry and his style of game also seems well suited for John Tavares. That line is buzzing and only a matter of time before they pile on the production.

That said he also hits and plays with bite. Probably hasn’t gotten the internal memo yet but the way he’ll finish a forecheck with a hit is just refreshing.
this line will set other teams on fire. When you play the series format it’s hard to make a full assessment. until they play a different team we can see which style they match up better against

i knew he gonna be good and he GOOD!!!!
i am pretty happy about Gally, he almost has that Hyman energy we need more of.

This is surprising but true. He's been playing hard since arriving here, even though that's been a knock on him before. Can't complain about a thing, so far.

I was excited about the Galchenyuk signing when it happened. Obviously a skilled player who was miscast as a number 1 center. He needed a little humility. He's not a line driver by himself which is why I think he failed in Pittsburgh. They thought he was the second coming of Kessel and he wasn't. But he's really talented and I'm thrilled with his attitude so far.

If he prevents us from giving up our prospects, that is great.

Gally has played well. I like his motor and he is gelling with Tavares and Nylander. Seems to have woken up that line. I just do not get why Dubas hasnt put him on the PP yet. Why is Simmonds, Thornton and Spezza on those units and not Gally. The kid has a rocket as a shot.

Galy and Willy have some special chemestry going on out there.
JT can play with anyone which makes that a very good 2nd line. And I think it will get better.

Now if we can only get Willy back on PP1 and Galchenyuk on PP2 it will help solve our PP problems.

"very fringy"? common gimme a break here,,,Engvall 24/Mikey 26 are just now getting their feet wet

Korsh is just 24,,,,,6.4 190lb power/finesse forward 25p in his first 54 AHL games and a very respectable 34p in 59g in the KHL,,,,9 in 11 POs,,,,don't let his path to the NHL fool you

The canes got themselves a player,,,he will start next season

Korshkov is due a new contract after this season. It's possible that he wants more than the Leafs were willing to pay to come back to North America. No real evidence. Just speculation on my part about why the Leafs were willing to move him.

I hope Keefe increases his ice time soon.
5gp 3p, 7 hits, 64% Corsi at even, all in 11:22 a game for the Leafs.

I understand his conditioning may not be all there yet and he still needs to get used to the system.
But he's playing like a top 6 forward with 4th line minutes(albeit with top-line players). Give him 14-17 mins the next 3 games and let the cards fall where they may.
