This team doesn't deserve 4am wake-ups so caught the replay. First 5 mins was as good as we've played in a long while. 2nd period was as bad as any of the crap we've dished up in the past 6 weeks. Too many penalties once again which is an annoying pattern.
PP remains ice-cold. At least Lavi finally sat the 1st unit for a bit
At this point Kreider is a net-negative and the worst player on whatever line he is on, it's sad to see. Whatever chemistry Laf and Panarin had is gone. They both appear to be trying, and have moments when they look dangerous, but nothing they have is working together and we need 1 (and preferably both) of them to look like a threat on every shift.
4th line kept working hard with limited minutes. Cuylle and Berard keep chugging along which is nice to see. Igor excellent once again
There were two times in the first where Fox and Schnieder were on together and we looked really good. Can we try this pair for a game or 2?

God I hate Carolina. They are one of those teams that play 'sneaky dirty', don't called for half the crap they do, and then sook it up and embellish whenever there is pushback. Glad they can't get out of the 2nd round, and very glad it's often due to us.
I wish we could learn to pressure like they do though

Forget about Alexis Lafreniere. The bigger problem is Adam Fox. I went to the Winter Village at Bryant Park yesterday. 70% of the people skating at Bryant Park are better skaters than Fox. He looks so uncoordinated and awkward having to defend. No strength. He looks like a teenage girl trying to shoot a basketball when he tries to clear the puck. His NMC starts in July. Trade this guy. Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes are in a different universe than Fox. People who don't watch the Rangers on a nightly basis think Fox is in that group. It's hard to see the Rangers winning a championship with Fox as the lead dog on D. The guy makes $9,500,000. He looks worn out and it's only December.

Zibanejad is a f***ing -18. Our supposed #1 C.

Edit: LOL. My bad. -19.

Will his +/- be greater than his point totals? Exciting stuff

Well technically, anyone with a minus rating's point total has to be less than their points, unless we're talking absolute numbers. I'm thinking of running a special math class during games, since we have nothing else to do at that time.

Now that the disappointment of the Kakko pick is gone, the focus will turn on Laf to live up to his draft status. Better pick it up.
Whether fair or not, this season will cement what much of the league thinks of him. He was “coming on,” hitting some but not all of the expectations of his draft status last year. He needs to have a better season this year than last. If he regresses, he suddenly becomes a “project.”

Even though he’s far from the biggest problem, he’s being talked about because
1) his new deal will kick in
2) he’s at an inflection point where his value is still presumably pretty high but could tank depending on how this season goes
3) two of the rangers most productive forwards look like they’re dunzo and we still have big holes on D, so a drastic retool is needed to remain competitive

You have to at least consider it if a good young center or D is available. My main hang up with trading him is I don’t trust Drury with that kind of high risk trade.

Mika was really bad especially on the 6 on 5. Had a guy lined up and merely bumped him.
we're 0/12 on 6 on 5s this season right?

i mean the whole team is f***ing garbage top to bottom, even Panarin is barely doing anything now.

At this point, I don't care who gets traded. However, we made the mistake of drafting #1 and #2, but kept running it back with the vets and not paying more attention to the kids. We could've had a real rebuild. Most teams getting that high back to back go through proper rebuilds and we f***ed that away. Now amount of trades, 3rd and 4th round picks will fix the damage done with that decision and the contracts we've signed to our vets.

Totally. And contrast his pathetic stride with a true alpha-dog, #1 like John Moore and it becomes crystal clear.

I missed this and went to the Jets game today. Doesn’t sound like it was any better! NY sports are disturbingly bad right now.

Anyone with a brain would've known the Jets hype train was bogus trotting out a 40 year old QB coming off an Achilles.

But this NYR team has no excuse. I knew they would be worse than the post deadline team last year, but I don't see this team missing the playoffs. They just simply don't know how to get games to OT and that's what's going to kill them. You can survive playing like dog shit if you pick up a loser point here and there. The uphill battle that it's going to take to get there, I don't think the vets on this team are willing to put in that kind of effort.
