Im fine with both of them being home resting.

I would also love if McDavid just said no or faked an illness and stayed home.

Him resting while the other players risk injury would only increase the Oilers chances at a cup.
Yeah I’m with ya! But I’m still enjoying watching these guys serve TC a shit sandwich…haha

I just want to say, Brady Tkatchuk might be the dumbest human I've ever seen on TV. And I mean that literally. Watching the Amazon special, he came across as sloth from the goonies dumber brother. Can't stand that guy.
A day later and I still feel the Sens didn't give good account of themselves. Tkachuk was fat nothing in this game. Worse game I've seen from STutzle. Batherson missing on everything.

Nice to see Skinner get some acknowledgement in this thread of the not negative variety for a change.
I'm sure there will be future moments when he frustrates us again but, right now, he's given up 2 or less in 7 of 9 and only 3 in the other one which was a game that out of reach when he gave up the goals anyway. The Florida game was his only stinker and it was a supremely stinky one but 8 out of 9 solid starts is....solid.
He played well and within his game. He wasn't throwing rebounds around. Sens didn't give him a lot of work. He was limiting his puck play and trying to move puck quicker when he did which is positive.

Can't speak for others but part of the reaction here is the constant polishing of Skinner in the broadcasts. "The Oilers are on a win streak because of "THAT MAN!!!" From the start of the broadcast you;'d believe that McD actually plays goal and they got the wrong jersey print tht says Skinner. Every save is a great save. Every shot from the point is a great save. Two shots that missed the net completely were "great saves"

We have a great team here that can shut down opponents and well coached and play better D than any NHL pundit mentions. Around the league we're still treated as if our goalie must be stoning opposition when its really not the case. Its almost always our opponents getting that. The broadcasts diminish what a great job the whole team is doing. Another thing thats constant in the broadcast is they are constantly praising the opponent team. "Sens are so dangerous, they can really throw the puck around, you have to really watch out, they can transition so quick" All these things were being stated in a Home Oilers broadcast when we were up 3-1 and Sens had got hardly anything. Sens didn't get a shot in first 11mins of the third period, in game they needed 2 more goals to tie.

We get this every game where the opponents are being praised, that our goalies are bailing us out making "great saves" Its manufactured, and its not accurate. We're 14-2-1 against the Sens in last 17 games, we're a SC finalist, we're the hottest team in the league and the broadcast not even giving the home side credit for its team work.

So yes, again Skinner was good. But some of it is a reaction to the broadcast. You'd swear Debrusk had two sons. One of them being Stu Skinner.

I think this definitely plays a part for me. The broadcast and many fans seem to think Skinner is this great goaltender, seemingly no matter what he's doing. Nothing is ever his fault, and the routine for some reason gets applauded like it's spectacular.

They talk about Skinner nearly every night the same way they talked about Askarov on Saturday, which is just flatly absurd. He's just not that goaltender. He's not that athletic, he doesn't track pucks that well, he's inconsistent, and to top it off he's statistically well uhh.... well below average despite having one of the easiest bookings in the entire league. So what's with the disconnect there?

Fact is - we're a defensively mature team that gives up basically nothing; 3rd in the league in xGA, yet are somehow 12th in the league in GA.

He should have high save percentages because we have the lowest percentage of high danger chances against in the league. Easier chances against means easier saves, means should have a higher save percentage - yet he's soundly below average, with his .897 being good for 47th in the league. Pickard ranks 24th.

He should have a low GAA because the team has low xGA/60, and relative league wide- a low actual GA/60, yet his GAA of 2.8 is 47th in the league. Pickard ranks 14th.

He should be soundly beating his xGA numbers because as we discussed earlier in this topic - chances that are blocked or deflected and never actually see him contribute to xGoals, and our defenseman make sure atleast 1xGA don't connect on net every game. Yet he's profoundly negative there, too, ranking 61st in GSAx/60. Pickard ranks 46th.

And again - Pickard isn't a great goaltender. Pickard is a 32 year old AHL yeoman, basically. One that hasn't achieved anything of note in the NHL aside from in front of this group that is statistically a top 5 team defensively on a bad night.

Dallas Game 6. 2-1 win. 34 Dallas shots to 10shots.

LA game 4. 1-0 win. 33 LA shots to 13 shots.

Nowhere to be found ever.

15 out of a possible 16 wins in the playoffs last year. Trust me, there were other games too we needed goaltending and found it.
worst goalie in the league, we would of been cup champs last 2 years in a row going for 3rd if not such a shitty goalie
