No but it helps build your rep. It is voted on by the 30 GM's plus I think it's 5 league executives and 5 members of the media. I would think he will probably be in the running next year unless someone comes out of the blue and really shocks the hockey world. Just because of the 2 cups in 3 years. But consider that Bowman also hasn't won this award in Chicago also.

When Dean started to talk about building a culture I wasn't getting it at first but it came pretty evident how important that is and what it is. It all starts in the locker room he said, not on the ice, it is all your leaders and your soldiers heart and soul and their comradery. No one is more important than the other one, all are equally important. And who is better than Sutter to follow that philosophy? Winning culture was also talked about and that is another great Dean Lombardi idea. I hope he gets recognized for his efforts and gets a personal award even though I don't think he gets in to that at all.

Eventually the myopic and completely biased East Coast media will have no other choice but to either continue looking like idiots or to give us and Lombardi his due.

Our past 3 years should have DS in the running for coach of the year and DL up for top GM. I mean in fairness I am happy enough to have the cup and bet the team from the top down feel the same but it would be nice to see credit where it is clearly and obviously due.

Instead I have gotten nothing but an almost total POOR diving HANK media blitz since we won the cup.

Of course there is the obligatory "Quick's numbers may have been slightly better during the finals then King Henriks but blah blah blah" nonsense.

It would be great to see someone pop DL up for GM of the year and DS up for top coach but I don't expect it.
