NWSL playoffs begin today. Angel City vs Seattle and North Carolina vs Gotham FC. Portland and San Diego with byes.

As an Angel City fan that turnaround that they had this year was remarkable. Lost only once since they fired Freya Coombe. Don't know how far they'll go, but whatever happens its a good season and something to build on for next year.

Great hire.

Only thing holding her back is lack of international experience. Vladko also lacked international experience and we saw how that worked out. Hoping she does better.

Vladko is not comparable to Hayes. Hayes much better resume

Rapinoe forced out of the NWSL finals today within the first 5 minutes.

Gotham FC go onto win 2-1.
People forget this was not their first title. In the first season of the predecessor league (WSL IIRC) Sky Blue won the first ever title. I was a sth and have a photo signed by the entire team as a gift from the club.

Seems the Hayes announcement has really motivated the Chelsea Women to make her last season their best yet. Since the news dropped after the Villa game, they've battered Everton 3-0 away, dominated Real Madrid but were robbed of three points by truly atrocious reffing (Madrid tied off a penalty that was very clearly outside the box AND Chelsea's late winner was ruled out by a flag when Millie Bright was about two yards on with three defenders between her and the goal), and now this morning pulverized Liverpool 5-1.

Watched the England Scotland game. Going into stoppage time England were in 1st on goals scored. Then Netherlands scored to go ahead on GD, then Bronze scored to tie GD and put England through on goals scored again then Netherlands made it 4-0 to go through on GD again.

What a great send-off for Sinclair. Too bad she couldn't score one last time, but it was still a fitting end to one of the greatest international careers ever.

Loved that, while everyone else wore her #12 in warmup, she strode onto the pitch in Sophie Schimdt's jersey.

Huge win this morning and Blackstenius missed a prime chance to make it 5-1 and make the table even closer. As it stands, Chelsea is only ahead on goal difference.

Despite that Spain beat England in the WWC Final, 7/11 players in the World XI are English.

In a truly bonkers sequence of events, then, 2/3 of the finalists for Women's POTY didn't make the World XI - both Linda Caicedo and Jennifer Hermoso are on the outside looking in.

I believe this was a player voted 11, but even still. Like even as a USWNT supporter, how could anyone justify having Alex Morgan here. She had an alright NWSL season and a disastrous national team year

It is, and the Players XI on the Men's side too has historically had a massive "incumbent bias/reputation vote" problem (Dani Alves was making the team of the year basically up until his incarceration). Morgan over Hermoso can only be attributed to that.
