Ryane Clowe: "I put a lot of thought into coming here and I thought it would be a really good fit here...I have always liked style NY plays"

Is that Torts' style/system? Or are the haters going to say he likes the Rangers' style in spite of the HC?

How Clowe likes to play is what Tort's asks of his team, so yeah it would seem to be a good fit. We'll see soon enough.

I was away for a week...and very sad when I logged on yesterday and found that he was still here . I'm thinking he might have been gone if Avery had not tweeted and took the power from Sather . Oh well...look on the bright side...we can't have too many 2nd rd picks left to trade away to try and save the season for Slats and Torts ...can we ??? Next they will be trading prospects...most teams just fire the coach before they start trading away the future ...not in NY though .:sarcasm:

I try not to complain about Torts too much but he needs to stop dicking around with Kreider.

The guys usually good at developing our prospects but he's really ****ing this one up

This **** is ruining the organization with his stupid system that stunts offensive growth. **** him. Let's get more grit for our best sniper who was having a bad year playing on his OFF WING.

Sounds like Clowe, Brassard and Dorsett are Torts' kind of players, so it'll be interesting to see what he does with this new lineup built in his image.

Like the system or not, at least we'll have a lineup better suited to playing it.

Mike Keenan and Dennis Potvin just dished the goods with Brian Lawton on sportsnet. Not surprised by trade, Potvin called Gaborik a dog, and said there are no two sets of rules for players in hockey, and Gaborik didn't want that in NY.

Keenan said he wouldn't be surprised if Gaborik requested a trade. Said he never played within the system under Torts, wore thin with coaches, and teammates were not appreciative of Gaborik's indifferent play. Lawton gave a very polite response, and didn't divulge much other than saying this was likely.

Neil Smith also suggests Gaborik actively waived his NTC to go from NY to CLB. Mentioned shouting match between Gaborik and Torts prior to him being practiced on the fourth line. Did not buy into the system, and thats something Torts will not tolerate under any circumstance. Gaborik actively voiced displeasure.

Ah, so that 12 minute talk had some validity to it after all.

Sorry tweeps, was on Blueshirts United online chat at deadline. First reaction to deal is surprise, that Gaborik wanted out THAT badly...

MSG employee confirming.

Gabby wanted out, so we really can't complain about the return. He handcuffed us. Very selfish of him. Way to think about your team *******.

People complain about Richards getting time his play doesn't warrant all. the. time. Gaborik was getting the same exact treatment, and when it ended, he apparently wasn't happy with it, to the point that he had a heated exchange with the coach and maybe even requested a trade. Sorry, that's not how you answer in that situation. If you deserve top 6 minutes, you play like that and you earn them. The guy had 3 good years here, but this year he was unengaged and listless and expected to keep being fed top minutes. That's not a healthy attitude for a guy who is counted on to be a big time player.

I don't blame the coach for one second for bumping Gabby down the lineup. Again, you want to be a top 6 player, play like one. If you can't, suck it up and do the best job you can on the bottom 6.

And those of you questioning Averys creedance - here is to that. OK - now if Psycho Johnny continues coaching .500 hockey and keeps his job well then this is just great!
