I like when people get what they deserve. If the majority of fans vocally and aggressively wish for things that will obviously make the team bad then they deserve to watch a bad team. I don’t care how emotionally invested they are, especially if they’re still unwilling to make an effort to understand the game past what they’re told by the paid shills.

Just because someone is ignorant, it doesn’t mean they deserve bad things.

You won’t find too many fans over 60 who understand the modern game or who want to tank. It’s tough to teach an old dog new tricks.

And every generation says “that won’t be me” and then inevitably, for the majority of said generation, it ends up being them.

If the worst thing I can say about a group is they’re too passionate and they believe in / care too much about a team, I don’t think they deserve bad things.

The only way you don’t understand the basics is if you don’t care to learn. If you don’t care, you don’t deserve success.

I’m not talking about crazy in-depth stuff like the most complicated stats or tactics here… I’m talking about simple stuff like “it’s bad to sign guys who literally can’t do anything but fight”.

There’s plenty of older fans who understand this stuff and younger fans who don’t, so age is no excuse.

And it has nothing to do with being “too passionate” or caring too much. There’s zero link between level of passion and level of knowledge. Loyalty doesn’t require blindness and complete agreement.

I'm in the camp that the authentics are getting what they deserve because it's what they want.

They want a shit old school style of hockey and that's what they're going to get. Eat it up and enjoy it. You're not seeing another Cup in your lifetime.
