I feel as if these calls to other lower-tier coaches are just to up their names while they "decide" to give Shaw a chance.

I'm honestly okay with that for one year... maybe more? Shaw seems like a level, very open sort of guy who actually sees the weight of the task in front of him. I think he takes it seriously, and the players may be open to that.

The only candidate worse than Woodcroft is Tocchet.

Woodcroft fits my preferred coaching hire profile: had a reasonably good run of success at his first job, took a bit of time off to learn from others (concerning that Torts was one of those others, of course), is looking for his second coaching job. I'm of the opinion that the second NHL HC job is the sweet spot; they've gotten the rookie mistakes out of their system, but they aren't so hidebound that they can't learn.

Now, I can't speak to his system or what he's learned since leaving Edmonton, nor how he'll do when he doesn't have McDrai dragging his ass to results, but I'd vastly prefer him to, say, Tocchet or Lappy.

Can we just hire ChatGPT to run this organization and coach from the bench? Give all the players an iPad on the bench and let Ai be their personal assistant..instructing them on every shift. Also, have ChatGPT manage the team..conduct the draft.
