Maybe that's the point - stick with a guy like Shaw who creates minimal disruption but at least changes the tone from Torts. I agree that whoever the next coach is will not be the one in place when the team turns the corner.

While I certainly agree that Shaw won't have the same schizophrenic character flaws that Tortorella has. Will he change the system and style of play? I personally feel that the Flyers need to completely change how they play than they did under Tortorella.

Never met him, but our parents apparently our parents worked together. For that reason alone, I say give him a shot.

I'd rather give McKee a try over Tocchet just because he's not a re-tread. It may turn out dull or bad, but at least it was something else.

Jay McKee is an excellent coach. Saw a lot of him behind the Hamilton Bulldogs bench before they moved to Brantford. His teams play a dogged forechecking/backchecking style that would play well in Philly. He gives his skill players freedom to make plays on offense. I would love to see him get a chance to coach the Flyers over a retread has-been. A few NHLers who benefitted from his tutelage include Robert Thomas and Mason McTavish, Arber Xhekaj. Nick Lardis is playing great. And of course Jake O'Brien in this year's draft. He makes them into hockey players, which is what the Flyers need.

in the end does it matter who the HC is? sure the big league team might win a few more games..but that whole behind the scenes needs to be swept out...the development needs an overhaul

The next coach should be a placeholder or question mark. No retreads on a 5 year deal. Just ride out next year with Shaw or Lappy if they are fine with it

This is the reason why Lappy should not be under consideration for the HC job.

I wasn’t against Lappy before but I’m having second thoughts now. It seems the Hershey series is ugly hockey which is the last thing I want on the Flyers
