Not really. He is a streaky and inconsistent goalie who overall can't consistently give you enough to justify his salary. Mostly he's a dick. He was who he we thought he was this tournament. Over a longer series, his .892 save percentage would have sunk them.

It's a bit silly they are skating around with the trophy like it's the cup for a 2-round, best of 1, 2-week mid-season All-star event. The Cup is 100+ year old iconic trophy. The 4-nations tournament is a gimmick, a cool one, but a gimmick that might not be here in 3 years.

I made a prediction a few months ago, Binnington leads Canada to gold here and gets dealt before the deadline.

If I'm Doug Armstrong, I'm burning up the phone because Binny's stock is never going to be higher. Unfortunately I don't see another playoff run in this team while he's still here.

Marner was practically invisible all tourney outside of a OT 3on3 goal and a pass tonight where the US defender made a terrible read.

His play this tourney wants me to never see him in a Blues uniform.

Brady Tkachuk on the otherhand.......dude was a presence everytime he was on the ice AND he is not 100% healthy.

US hockey needs one elite forward to breakthrough in 26 outside of Eichel and Tkachuk bros. Hughes was awful this tourney and Matthews is still a choker. I thought Matthews had a great game and then OT happened and he turned back into a Maple Leaf pumpkin.

I like McDavid's chance to win a Cup over Matthews. McDavid showed he can finish when it matters most, Austin was stopped time and time again.

I should have been the coach, I would have played him long before it went to OT

Binnington should have won The Tournament MVP, despite his couple of weak goals let in. He came up big to keep Team Canada in this game.

I don’t have the tape to break down his shifts but Marner’s first period was ridiculous. Every shift he tilted the ice with takeaways, breakouts, or patience.

Then he was bumped to the top line with Bennett and mcd, fed mcd all night and it bounced over his stick half a dozen times.

I think some of his invisibility came from his play with MacKinnon and Crosby, which kinda of neuters his play making. Or MacKinnon just decides it’s 1v5 time and Leeroy’s. MacKinnon seems like the kinda guy you want to put big dudes around; not wirey playmaking shifty dudes. Or really anybody who loves carrying the puck. I think you’d want Big dudes that take up space and push defenses back and who can finish.

I haven’t seen the advanced stats. I’d wager Marner has the highest game score of all (Canada) forwards. Stone had a bad night and kinda drug everybody down when he was out, which is uncharacteristic.

He’s certainly streaky and inconsistent, but he’s shown that he can rise to the big moment. The problem is being able to get through the slog of the regular season with him being streaky in order to have that big moment.

It’s certainly a contrast to Hellebuyck, who’s been a consistent, top tier workhorse, but has tended to fade in the big moments.

Even though "we lost" it was nice to see Binnington be the reason for it and shut up all the haters. There is a whole lot of crow being eaten on social media sites tonight.

The Olympics are the only 1s I personally care about. I thought this was going to just be a gimmick money maker tourney. And to be fair it was but still provided great playoff like hockey.

I 100% expect the league to run it into the ground now like they have done with the winter classic.

Don't get me wrong there's definite value to hitting people. But aside from hitting literally everything and cleaning up in front of the net he's not a game changer by any means. He looks for a pretty heavy cycle behind the net from what I've seen.

He's a very imposing player. But he needs someone to do alot of the play driving for him from my viewings. I would love to have him on my team for sure, but I don't think he's going to be all that effective without a high end player feeding him. Would be a really great compliment for what Thomas is.

I will agree though that Hughes was pretty underwhelming. Seems too small and got knocked around quite a bit.

Big game Binner does it again, good for him. Though as far as I'm concerned, this series is tied at 1-1. Canada got lucky but at least they can avoid a national meltdown now.

These are the two best national hockey teams in The World, playing against each other on The World Stage. I'll admit that representing my country on The World Stage in The Olympics would be a LOT more impressive and I'd be a lot more proud of having helped win an Olympic medal for my country than this ad-hoc tournament. But I'd have been plenty happy that my team won and would have enjoyed skating holding this (not-so-important) trophy, with my friends and family, and fellow countrymen and women watching in the arena and on TV.

AND most importantly, I wouldn't begrudge any of The Tournament's winning team members for celebrating that hard-fought win.

This tournament was a home run. Super fun hockey to watch. It’s amazing to have international best on best back, and the Olympics next year should be incredible. With some bad blood between the U.S. and Canada, those matchups are going to continue to be must-watch television.

I’m happy Canada won and that Binner outshined Hellebuyck. He deserved to shut the critics up.

But holy moly that US team is going to be a force with that defense. Slavin, Faber, McAvoy, Werenski and Sanderson is an unbelievable group. They made Canada’s offense look quite pedestrian a lot.

He has the heart of a champion. He exemplifies the Miracles speech. A guy who isn’t an elite talent who shows up the biggest at the most crucial time.

He has the exact attribute that a more talented Allen lacked. Competitive fire and inner belief.

This time Hellebuyk didn’t give it away. He played quite well. This was closer to the Bishop Game 7 duel.
