Moore has value to SC contender that are looking for a 4th line veteran forward that can help out defensively. He has been great this more, more than any of us expected and now we need to cash in and grab a pick/prospect for him. Nash could be traded, but doesn't have nearly the value that Moore does. If you traded Moore, you still have the following guys who can line-up at center or have played center...

Austin Czarnik
Danton Heinen
Reilly Nash
Sean Kuraly
Noel Acciari

Are they Moore? no, but Moore also plays 12 minutes a night. If you can swap him out for a 2nd or 3rd, I'm sure anyone above can fill a 12 minute hole. The biggest area we take a hit is on the PK....but Backes can slide into Moore's PK slot.

So the Bruins, who have a 75.5% chance of making the playoffs should be sellers? Is this pick this year in a draft that is being looked at as one of the weakest in more than a decade, where most likely you would be giving away Moore for nothing long term? Riley Nash is terrible, the other 4 have proven they are not ready for the NHL and Boston will probably have to try and find a good fourth line center next year if they don't get Moore to resign. Good on faceoffs, good penalty killer, good in the locker room and supposedly well liked by teammates and management, why move him just to move him?

Okay, fair enough. If someone offers a second rounder for him, then it probably makes sense to take it, but outside of that, I'd rather keep him. We may not be a real cup contender this season, but I like our chances of making the playoffs, and once there, anything can happen. He is the kind of hard-working, competent, veteran player you need in the playoffs.

If the return for Moore was only a 3rd/4th round pick in a weak draft, it's just not worth it IMO. If you want to recoup some mid-round picks, deal some of the extras like Liles, maybe Morrow, Beleskey.

I haven't seen one trade completed yet where I've wished Sweeney had made the move. Can't give up 1sts 2nds or prospects for rentals. Stay the course Sweeney, make the necessary moves in the offseason

Why? This draft is not good and the Bruins will be picking in the middle, why not give up another Zach Hamill, Jordan Caron or Malcolm Subban for a good rental. Shows team you are trying to win and you really aren't giving up a lot, still plenty of solid prospects, most of whom will still never play more than 100 games in the NHL.

Because they don't want to give up another Pastrnak or McAvoy either.

Keep evaluating, Sweeney. I almost hope your over evaluate and forget the deadline comes and goes. Either stay the course and do nothing or make a big trade for the long term.

Old Eklund has Halak trade pending to Calgary or Boston, dun dun dunnnnnnnnn.

Calgary? They have been doing well bouncing between Chad and Elliot. I see no reason why they would unless someone is injured.

Boston however I could totally see.

Not if you like winning in the playoffs. Moore is playoff tested, Czarnik should finish year in the AHL and then be reassessed in camp next year.

It's not like Moore is gonna carry us to playoff wins. I'm not gonna argue that we can count on Czarnik more than Moore. But Czarnik + a 2nd or 3rd vs. Moore? It's close. I don't know if I'd bother for a 3rd, but if he gets a 2nd, I'd be willing to insert Czarnik.

You're going back 5-10 years for examples. Look at their recent drafting in the mid 1st round.

No way in hell should they give that up to rent a guy for this years roster

The Coyotes, yet another season gone for naught, likely will deal their top scorer, Radim Vrbata, prior to the Wednesday 3 p.m. deadline. For the right price, he would be an ideal fit for the Bruins, offering guaranteed depth on the third line and the ability to move higher up in the order if top six wingers Brad Marchand, David Backes, Peter Cehlarik or David Pastrnak needed relief.

Vrbata, 35, also has been one of the Coyotes’ key power play contributors this season. Born and raised in the Czech Republic, he also would be surrounded by friends in countrymen David Krejci and David Pastrnak, along with Slovak neighbors Zdeno Chara and Cehlarik.

Depends on the year of the picks, I really don't like the depth or talent available in this draft. I haven't paid as much attention as I usually do to the draft class because all I have heard for this years is that the top 5-8 are ok and after that it drops off dramatically. I still keep and resign Moore unless you have a team willing to give a prospect who is almost ready, a RW on a team that may be loaded on the right side willing to move a good, older prospect, I wouldn't do it for picks.

I'm going back not based on Bruins ability to scout but on the depth of this draft. East is pretty open to me based on how the Bruins play against Columbus, Pittsburgh and the Rangers. Nobody in division scares me, I like Ottawa but I think the Bruins beat them in a series.
