Michael Andlauer is being interviewed by Gino Redda of TSN. Redda asks about the fans chanting for DJ Smith's firing.
Andlauer responds, "section 323 and another 30 fans".
2 weeks later, DJ is fired. Jacques comes in and while the team fails to make the playoffs, it shows signs of improvement. In comes Travis Green and we have a solid playoff team. One that can, and I say this with caution, can climb as high as #3 in the division.
from 2017-2023, fans scream "Dorion and Melnyk out". One dies and his estate sells in September of 2023, the other is fired in November of 2023.
By 2024/2025 we have success, and as mentioned above a possible #3 spot. After a 17 year nightmare and a 7 year horror show.

Maybe, just maybe, Owners should listen to fans.
Melnyk out, Dorion out, DJ out...team success.
No more idiot comments about fans in section 323..they are smarter than you.

Fans in the 300s are smarter than the man who acquired the organization and turned it around?
I'll be a fan in the 300s tonight. I'd like to think I'm a smart enough guy, and I don't often self deprecate, however there are reasons for for my single game 300s ticket and his seat in the owners box.
And for the record, Melnyk's tenure wasn't 17 years of horror. The horror began, I'd say, in 2009 with the Heatley business, and was on again off again for another 9 years before we had 6 years of unparalleled horror.
Melnyk took over a Presidents trophy winning squad. Andlauer took over a tire fire. It's OK to cut the new guy some slack as he makes this thing his own.

There's an old adage that goes along the lines of " listen to the fans, and soon you'll be sitting with the fans".
It's funny that you talk about in comes Green and team success. Do you really think if we'd listened to the fans in 323, we'd have hired Green this summer? Probably not.
Fans will be right from time to time, but I sure as shit don't want my team following every whim of the fanbase instead of the experts they hire.

UFA: Forsberg G, Hamonic RD, Gilbert LD, Giroux RW, Cousins LW, Highmore LW & Gaudette RW
Who do we expect will be re-signed from that list? Most likely Giroux for sure & maybe Gilbert & Gaudette to fill needs.
Goaltending - I expect that Merilainen G should replace Forsberg in net.
Defence - I expect they will sign RFAs Kleven & Matinpalo giving them six D for next season & Gilbert as the 7th. They should have Yakemchuk RD, Sebrango LD, Guennette RD & Donovan LD as depth. Davies LD has had a pretty good yr in Belleville & could also get re-signed.
Forwards - Giroux most likely will be extended by a yr or two at maybe $2 mil cheaper. Of the other three, I only see Gaudette as possibly being re-signed based on the goals he scored earlier this yr. I also expect that out of everyone in Belleville Halliday is the most likely to be promoted for next season. They may sign a UFA or two this summer, but they could be handcuffed by the cap.
