TV: Alien: Earth

I've been looking forward to this for a few years now, more so than the new movie(s). I'm encouraged that it's supposed to adopt the style and mythology of the original movie, rather than those of Prometheus and Covenant.

The premise is slightly concerning, though. It's supposedly a prequel set on Earth two years before the 1979 movie, so how is it going to be that humanity isn't aware of its existence and characteristics in that movie and Aliens? That'll be interesting.

It seems only Weyland Yutani knows, which sort of would explain the first movie's synths actions.

Yeah, so we have to believe that they'll be able to completely cover it up. Are all of the characters of the show going to die or will they sign NDAs? It won't be very heroic if the survivors assist the coverup. Anyways, I'm sure that Noah Hawley has an explanation, but we'll probably have to wait until the end of the series to learn it.

I can see a company like Weyland Yutani in that universe capable of completely covering everything.

So can I, but the conflict will have to be relatively controlled and isolated, and knowing that there won't be the widespread conflict that fans have wanted and that the company will get away with covering it up in the end takes a little away from the series.

I'm still excited for it, though. I just wonder if it might've been better to set it after Aliens so that the storyline and ending wouldn't be handcuffed so much by canon. Then again, Andor is similarly handcuffed and that's excellent, so, hopefully, this is made as well as that.

I think synths and those other creatures will be involved. And as we know, Weyland Yutani has no problem killing "witnesses" that could interfere with business.
