In Tuesdays game I looked like an idiot for doing it in the first and second period, but everyone did it for the third.

I think it would be a good idea to do it once a game counting down from 11:11 to 11;00 and then chanting Alfie in the 3rd period only. Hopefully then it's not too much to ask of our fair weather fans and we can establish it as a tradition.

Is it really that hard to notice a massive clock above your head while watching the game so you know when to start the chant? Maybe I'm better at multi-tasking than I thought.

Most fans have horrible timing on the chant.

Also, so what if you miss the first few seconds. Usually at least one guy sitting near you is ready and if you don't notice, then start chanting at 8 seconds or something. Not that hard.

The man has at MOST 1 more year so its not that big of a deal in the future.

I would love to see the Senators adopt Celtics (a very famous scottish socer club).

It's been mentioned a couple times that the chant was meant to start a tradition. Why would this chant be a tradition? Why should chanting one man's name become a tradition? If it did become so, what relevance would it be chanting "Alfie" when he is no longer on the team? If any chant should become tradition it should be something that motivates the entire team and is relevant no matter who is playing on the team.

Maybe because that one man has been the face of the franchise for almost 20 years? Why do New York Rangers fans still chant Potvin sucks? He hasn't played in the NHL for ages. It's an awesome tradition. I hope people who are creating baby Sens fans will make sure that those baby Sens fans will know who Alfie was, even though they may never have got to see him play.

I can understand people appreciating what he's done, I appreciate what he's done. However, the level of Alfredssion worship from some fans it a little much, well, more like far too much. Obviously, that's just my opinion, though.

To me it just seems super lame to be chanting one guy's name (every period? every game?) from now now. How many other fan bases chant every game/period a current or former player's name? None. Why? Because it loses its relevance and becomes played out. This isn't a dig against Alfredsson, it's a dig the misguided energy of some fans.

A few weeks ago, someone posted in another thread about starting a Silfverberg chant. People want to start chanting for a guy who had one goal and had only played a handful of games? I can understand and appreciate the excitement but some fans just take things too far sometimes, example the Silfverberg chant. I think wanting this "Alfie" chant to become tradition is also such an example.

Any opportunity to make noise, any opportunity to create some tradition, any opportunity to quiet the leaf fans, should be taken.
