Value of: Alexis Lafreniere to the Blackhawks

the "but Laf gets no PP time!" argument is annoying because how many coaches have now decided he shouldnt play there?

maybe he isn't good enough to play there?

The 3rd OVR pick would be poor value so I won’t consider it as a realistic ask. What would it take for a NYR/CHI trade here?
Lafreniere has certainly been disappointing for a 1OA. The Rangers gave him a huge contract too. I don’t see why the Hawks would want him?

There’s nothing that makes sense for the rangers, nor is there any legitimacy to the rangers having interest in moving him.

The rangers, regardless of what anyone thinks about it, think they can, and are operating under the belief that they can, win now. The hawks have nothing that increases whatever chance they have of realizing that goal to return, especially when they’d be creating another roster hole in moving him.

Most interest in him seems to stem from an impression that he might be available for pennies on the dollar, with fans seeing upside to justify rolling those dice. That’s about as realistic as waking up to find a billion dollars in your bank account. There’s no interest or motivation on the rangers end of moving him. Outside of a potential megadeal the rangers think materially improves their odds of winning now, where he makes or breaks it happening, he’s not in play….and that deal almost certainly isn’t either.

C’mon man! Puff, puff, pass! You gotta share whatever you’re smoking.
You do realize the blackhawks at a certain point need to try to win games right? I know on HF there is nothing more valuable than futures but in the real world, winning hockey games is important.

Theyd trad 3OA in a nanosecond for laff. Rangers wouldnt do it though

At a certain point sure it’s time to win games. But are you sure laff is the guy who will spearhead this movement?

Please do it, draft James Hagens and have him hold out on signing until he graduates then he walks for the Isles. The Rangers soap opera this year can always use another story line.
Rangers aren't getting the 3rd overall for Lafreniere. 99.999% of NYR know that. But, I don't think there would be an Issue here with Hagen signing. Gabe is here at least to soften it if he really wanted to be a NYI. My money is on he'd sign.

This is true, but Hawks would trade assets for someone who would help do that

Not sure what a disappointing Lafreniere signed to what could be a horrible contract if he doesn't progress does for Hawks at this point

Tyler Bertuzzi played at above his production level with less talent around him and Bertuzzi was great disappointment

Yet the Hawks should give away 3rd overall for Laf and his disappointing play + his new contract?

If they want to win games, why would they want Lafreniere?

I was actually just thinking that if the Rangers want to get back to winning playoff series’ like they have been the last several years then why would they want anyone from the Blackhawks?
NYR are basically in their waning years. The best case scenario is basically goaltending keeps them competitive enough to give some small glimmers of life. If they wanted to really get ahead of it, they could do a bit of a firesale for draft futures and position themselves better for the inevitable tank years that are looming regardless.

Here comes the laffy defenders. We get enough of this shit on the nyr board, it's sort of "inspiring"(?) to see them carry on their quest to the trade boards.

I think getting a 23 year old former #1OA pick locked up on a 7 year deal who in 2023-2024 was one of the best 5v5 players in hockey for just #3OA in a weak draft would be a good piece of business

I'd comfortably say there's not a team that would trade the 3rd overall for Lareniere right now. If the roles were reversed, NYR would not trade the 3rd overall for him.
You do realize in 2023-2024 he was one of the best 5v5 players in the sport right? If the rangers didnt have laugh and could get him for #3OA they do it all day

This takes will age like milk. Just as last season everyone was laughing at themselves and taking it back when they said laff wasnt even worth a 1st round pick. He was one of the best players on earth at 5v5 in 2023-2024. A one year step back on a team whos culture was more toxic than chernolbol doesnt make him a cap dump in the fantasy world this site is

You do realize it's May 2025, and NYR would not trade the 3rd overall pick for him. Yes, Lafreniere was a much better player last season because he moved his feet. The Panarin/Trocheck/Lafreniere line was also very dangerous line. Panarin was an absolute star last season.

So in other words what youre saying is the former #1OA has proven he can thrive with top tier talent but a team like the hawks desperate to put some talent around bedard wouldnt trade a lottery ticket #3 crap shoot pick for him? LOL

And let me be clear, the rangers would never accept an offer of #3 OA for him. Theyd laugh at it and hang up the phone. This is the real world we are talking about not HF fantasy land where folks believe the single most valuable thing is draft picks followed by a close 2nd of cap space. Winning be damned.

Let me be clear, Bedard is not 2023-2024 Panarin, and you're out to lunch on this one.
