The excuses for Panarin need to stop.

I’ve seen him battle and create, I’ve seen him do that in this series.

It hasn’t been there enough. 4th in league scoring to basically 4th in playoff scoring on his own team isn’t good enough. He doesn’t have the “line mates suck” excuse this time either, they’ve been way better than he has and no it’s not because he’s opening space for them by getting stuffed- him getting stuffed usually just kills anything they can potentially get going.

You do have instances like last game where he would have had a tap in but Lindgren decided to try to throw a puck through a defender for a shot that would have been easily stopped but even those instances have been few and far between.
Observations are not excuses. You don’t think what he did in the playoffs was good enough? I can accept that. I can agree with that. But I merely said what I saw.

It's going to be absolutely hilarious when he sees zero PP1 time next season because this team is absolutely just going to run it back with all the same players.
Nah, now we have the same result with this core under two seasoned coaching staffs. Drury’s hands may be tied with the terms of some contracts but I think he tries to make some moves and also put Mika in a position to want to be traded (ie less minutes, less PP time).

Fun fact!

Mika Zibanejad had more primary assists (2) on Lafreniere goals in these playoffs than Artemi Panarin (1). Laf and Zib don't even play together lol.

Maybe Laf is the answer to the bromance. I mean probably not because I don't know that it exists but alot of what they do need, he does and I think hes shown that he can fly with out Artemi's help.

Given he’s not gone, i like the idea of Kakko there with that as a shutdown line and one that wears you down around the net. Not sure you’d get enough out of that top line 5v5 in the playoffs when space tightens up but worth the try…

if you're looking for silver linings, might not have been an awful thing for laf to see Floridas top end give it everything physically for 6 games. Let i'm see what it takes

8 goals in his last 11 playoff games and he rang 3 bars in the process.

I think if there’s anything to really take away is that he did this against Carolina and Florida who are excellent defensive teams and a ton (not all or even most, but a significant amount) of his chances were created off of solo efforts. If a lack of flash was a complaint it sure didn’t show here, who looked more dynamic than him?

He should do what ever he did last offseason and continue to work on his shot. Look forward to the softball pics in August where people will compliment how he loads his swing this time around.

Just going to leave this here.
Laf is asked what he thought the "turning point" was for him this year "regular season and then what you were able to display in the post season."
His answer: "just playing with confidence" and "trusting my game a little more."
Again, I'm not saying training hard off season and working on his skating aren't important, but clearly HE thinks the biggest difference is CONFIDENCE.
Cued up for convenience.

Would a PPG season shock anyone next year? I feel like its almost an expectation at this point. He's thisclose to being our franchise player.

No. If he gets PP1 or PP2 with guys who don't suck at PP, I'd say he's definitely PPG. If he DOESN'T get those things he may STILL be close.

It really comes down to how much softball he plays. If he is playing more than once a week, and averaging a beer and a hot dog per game, then I just don't see how he'll be P/GP next season, regardless of if he gets PP1 time or not.

I literally dont understand this post. Did chat GPT make this up for you? Playing softball? What? Dude was our best forward at ES and one of our best players in the post season. Dude is going to put up 80-90 pts if he gets Mika's PP minutes. It took him longer than expected, but he's arrived,
