Alexis Lafrenière

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

This scouting report on Lafreniere was so accurate.

  • One of the most common things he does is park himself right in front of the opposing goalie.
  • Though Lafrenière can certainly score, he has a pass-first mentality.
  • He very rarely stops on a dime when needed. Lafrenière tends to take wide turns to change direction, which slows him down in the flow of the game
  • Lafrenière is very good with the puck and does an excellent job of finding the best option for a pass. However, when two or more opponents pressure him and take away most or all of the passing lanes, he seemingly hesitates and bails out on the play, turning the puck over.
  • Lafrenière gets comfortable with the pace and makes bad passes and bad reads.
  • Lafrenière plays at the high point area, where he facilitates the power play. I think he is misused on the power play. He is best suited for the net-front role.
  • When in the defensive zone, Lafrenière tends to jump up ice too quickly. It works sometimes and often leads to dangerous scoring chances.
  • He gets caught puck watching a lot. It is not as though this is a rare occasion either, as there are several moments in the game where he glides towards the puck and loses his positioning.
  • Lafrenière can burn defensemen wide, but it is more likely he skates through them rather than bursting around them. He also doesn’t necessarily have good edges. It looks as though he plays a bit off-balance at times, leaning too far forward and on his toes, making it easier for opponents to knock him down.
  • Lafrenière also appears to have bad stamina. He looks extremely gassed at the end of his shifts that didn’t appear too long by any means.
  • Lafrenière possesses a very quick and deceptive release, with his shot carrying a lot of weight behind it. His accuracy could use a bit more work, but the power is certainly there.
  • He also is not afraid of getting involved physically, which further helps him win battles.
  • Lafrenière is strong on the forecheck but he does not forecheck very often, which is a shame. He is a very lazy back checker, unfortunately. Lafrenière does, however, have the skillset to be a successful back checker
  • Lafrenière is not a very good defensive zone player. He tends to get sucked down out of position and floats around in the d-zone. He can, at times, support his teammates down low and force turnovers which he quickly moves up ice. The main issue is his defensive zone consistency.
  • Lafrenière should be NHL-ready immediately following the draft. He could begin as a middle-six player and move up rather quickly to the top-six if he finds his stride. It is also dependent on if Lafrenière is utilized correctly.

He's been in the league too long for these things to still be true. Train in the offseason. Lafreniere needs to reset and come into next season in great shape. I want to see him attack defenders more and use his legs.

up until the last bullet point this sounds like the scouting report on me when i was 12. we should've known he'd be a bust.

It's hilarious that the scouting report lists all that and finishes with 'NHL ready' 😆
I'm annoyed with Lafreniere, so I posted the negatives, obviously.

They did think he had size, a quick release, and was suppose to think the game rather quickly. So I can understand why they said NHL ready for a middle role.

He looked so good. People had a right to be optimistic even early in this season. Then his play fell off the table.

He was on fire to start the season. The whole f***ing team was.

Then Lindgren returned to the lineup and the whole defense shifts.

Swap him with Othmann, give him a wake up call
But then we ruin probably our best line right now.

John Giannone has some crazy stat something like Lafreniere has 9 different double digit goal droughts in his young career already. I mean come on!!!

How the f*** is Cuylle outshooting Laf with less minutes? He looks insanely better and it shows. It's incredible. Lol.

Not to mention Byfield has done something Laf never has, and that's score a goal in 5 consecutive games.

I did not see the game but I read the Bread line also looked better with Will on it. Maybe these line swaps can give us a boost. I hope so because its basically now or never time. Looks like Ottawa is pulling away. We need to beat CBJ.

He looks slightly better playing with Miller, but for someone like Laf, 8 shots in 10 f***ing games is unacceptable.

Byfield ~ 23 shots in 10 games
Cuylle ~ 21 shots in 10 games
Jacob f***ing Trouba ~ 9 shots in 10 games
Kakko ~ 19 shots in 10 games
Lindgren ~ 13 shots in 10 games

All these players have at least a goal in their last 10. Lol. It's hard to wrap my head as to why Laf is like this. The team sucking this year isn't stopping him from shooting the puck.
