The left side doesn't need Matheson, Guhle/Hutson/Xhekaj is a good left side despite how young it is.

The right side is still weak outside the vets and I expect one of Savard/Matheson to traded by the deadline. So conundrum...because Carrier can't carry the right side by himself next season...
I agree, I think Matheson would be the logical choice to be traded. If they trade Savard, then we have Carrier as our only RD in the lineup unless, they trade Savard for another RD.

Imho, Mailloux is no where near NHL caliber yet and Rein is gonna need more time also. We shall see....

I don't see a future with Struble on the Habs, especially if they plan on keeping Xhekaj. Is he still waiver eligible? Maybe send him down to Laval to get more reps.

Saw articles today stating that Struble must now pass through waivers.

Struble is no longer waiver exempt.

Probably moved as soon as one of the best Ds in the pipeline, is ready to graduate.

I could envision a suitor as he had a lot of great games last season, especially right after his call up. Someone will have taken notice and may believe it’s a precursor to what he can be with more experience.

It’s great to accumulate draft picks and prospects but at some point the team needs to start evaluating them to determine who’s part of the puzzle and who isn’t.

This year is the start of the dominoes falling, Barron was the first domino to fall…. Primeau is perhaps next, and many more to come

Kovacevic and Harris were the first ones to fall.

Really good 1st game with Habs !!
we could see his value in that last 3 min . PK then extra man. he was calm , cleared a few pucks and players from in front of the net. That could have been a difference between a win and a loss.

And you could see savard was more fresh late in the game too. As he played less hard minutes

Carrier >>>> Barron

Yer bon en tabaslack, exactly what we needed.
Some >>> missing there, but I wouldn't compare them considering the age difference.

Big upgrade on D. The kids will be able to learn gap control and positioning watching him (unlike with Matheson/Savard).

He isn't a journeyman who would accept that role, Jayden Struble is young and has upside, not the type of player you want to sit.
Well, he sat tonight…..I expect the same tomorrow. As long as we have Savard, he is #7.

Matheson
Guhle
Carrier
Hutson
Savard
Xhekaj

He’s not bumping any of these out….so unless an injury or trade….hes basically #7.

And when Reinbacher is healthy and Mailloux starts to get it….he probably will be #9
