Dumping Barron is a very likable move especially for the Hughes haters. My opinion of Hughes went up for cutting bait, but of course he only did it when a Quartexx guy was made available.

What happened to all the crybabies saying Barron had top-4 potential and we need to give him more time?
Next step in Hughes’ evolutionary chart — cutting bait with a Quartexx client. 💀

Bizarre how Alexandre Carrier's initials are "AC" (air conditioning) and how his family name is an AC brand. His locker room nickname has to have written itself.

Not sure — are you expecting people who were upset with the manager’s inaction in the face of regression to complain after the manager makes a move? What a senseless complaint.

I really hope it isn’t only “crybabies” who want the Habs to not lose games before the end of the first period. Calling people crybabies? Really? Getting mad like this seems like a perennially frustrating way to interact with your fellow fans.

Mid way of a rebuild people are screaming for the guys head and can't handle losing games? Yeah those are crybabies. Getting mad? There are people wanting KH fired, Dach traded and half the team waived, don't project your insecurities onto me. If you don't have a clue how professional sports teams get built you should not get angry when people laugh at your tears.

I don't dislike Hughes and hated Bergevin but Dach Newhook and not picking Mitchkov is 3 pretty big fail as of right now the thing i like about him is he's not panicking he's staying the course of his plan

Dach getting injured is not something that cvan be pinned on KH, it happens and Newhook was a calculated risk that might still pay off and so might the Reinbacher pick. Saying these things are obvious mistakes is nonsense and were not "obvious" at the time. You don't get to cahnge the past no matter how angry you get.

Taking shots at random flippant comments is a fine way to make oneself feel smart and righteous, that’s for sure.

Most criticism was just criticism without any extra demands. It’s sports, when the results and performances are bad, there will be criticism. Not unusual.

If you don't have a clue how professional sports teams get built you should not get angry when people laugh at your tears.
Rosters get built by the acquisition of good players and the churn through bad ones. Right now we’ve acquired a handful of bad players or underperforming ones who have derailed this season’s trajectory.

It won’t cost you a thing to accept that Dach and Newhook have cratered this team’s chances this year. Hughes has already accepted that Primeau is done-for at the NHL level. Something many of us correctly identified weeks ago.

Dach getting injured is not something that cvan be pinned on KH, it happens and Newhook was a calculated risk that might still pay off and so might the Reinbacher pick.
They’re not playing well at the moment. Hope this isn’t a surprise to you.

They’re not working out now, and expressing anger or criticism of the moves and their performances today is perfectly normal. This is sports talk. Maybe you’d be more comfortable in the Taoism community, where daily frustrations can be meditated upon and dissolved after much effort.

This begs for a new term to describe those who engage in this behaviour ......revisionbabies

People who are watching what Mailloux is giving us in Laval compared to what Carrier is currently providing should realize just how far away he still is.
Completely different players.

But yes, absolutely, Mailloux is far away. I hope that's not a surprise... his ENTIRE OHL career was 96 games. Playoffs included. He's one of those young players who was hurt a lot by COVID, + his suspension took a toll.

He was always going to need 2-3 years in the AHL, guy needs icetime. Experience.

It’s often overlooked, but the simple act of being competent/stable adds so much to any NHL lineup.

Carrier isn’t flashy, he’s a calming influence. A consummate professional, who comes to the rink and works hard to do his job.

He’s not big, but he plays physical, within his skill set, and that’s helped turn this team around significantly…. and he has added some nice assists as well!

He’s been exactly what this team needed on the back end. Looking like a sharp pick up by Hughes.

He's literally done nothing yet. The excuse was that he had many bad contracts to deal with, which is true. He can't have that excuse in this offseason. There have been good moves (Monahan/Laine) and bad ones (Lehkonen/Newhook), and we can't judge anything from the draft class yet. Saying he's terrible or great is incredibly premature.

Barron for Carrier is exactly the type of MB move and I'm not saying it as a bad thing.

When you take over a team that just lost 3 of their pillars (danault, price, and weber) at the same time for sweet f*** all...there will be alot of pain coming.

Somehow bergy thought this was a time to double down and traded a first rounder. He was sacked soon after, and then the necessary rebuild began.

Sounds like Carrier can be a great example for rookie defencemen.

I think we tend to focus (understandably) on players who are acquired and move the needle forward. But guys like carrier prevent the needle from moving back. Having reliable RD is a key to success in the NHL
Not sure why Trotz thought this was a trade Nashville needed to make, puzzling is an understatement. Carrier has instantly improved this team's back end.
My concern is what happens to Jayden Struble as Adam Engstrom continues to improve in Laval.

Remember the time when Victor Mete was the only option?

To that I say, it's nice to have options. Over so many years, it's been slim pickings on account of the Habs never wanting to do a proper rebuild.

You don't make the kind of move Trotz did without giving up on the season. Barron is so raw that he becomes a liability -- he has to occupy one of the NHL team's spots as he can't be waived and the longer he takes to develop, the more the pain of rostering him will be felt. The fact that Trotz seemingly liked the player from the summer, turned out to be the ideal trading partner. Carrier is a godsend while Barron just wasn't progressing.
