Have run out of things to say about Ovi, so I’ll just say thank you to the Great 8, for everything he’s done so far and for whatever accomplishments are still left to be written. What an absolute privilege to have this guy represent our team for 20 years.

Mad respect to Rick Dudley for that move. The whole "there's been enough leap years since, so he actually meets the criteria to be in this draft if we go by the number of days", was impressive.

Something else I never really grasped until recently. All of Ovies goals are with the Caps. Not until you get to Steve Yzerman at 10th do you find someone who only played for one team. So not only we’re we lucky enough to have the best goal scorer but we were also lucky enough that we didn’t share him with anyone.

I moved back to DC area in 2001. Immediately bought season tickets (107-F) and had those until 2004. NHL went on strike, i have my first kid, and draft OV. My son was part of the OV effect in DC. He played 5 years of AA and 5 years of AAA (Little Caps) and two ACHA years.

So thank OV for having an impact early and later on our family. Was in the building for 802 and 894. Really want to see 895 on Thursday but regardless, I have been spoiled and so f***ing happy to have been part of the journey as a fan!

The best to ever do it. One of my favourite players ever. Shay he has done over his careee had been a treat to watch. Imo, what he is doing this year is almost as unthinkable as breaking 894 was.

I thought 5-6 years that Father Time might get in the way here like it does everyone, but Ovi ages like fine wine. Unbelievable that this guy keeps scoring like this. He’s a beauty.

Congrats to all the caps fans that have followed him his entire career, cherish it, might be another 50 years before we see someone like him. It may never happen.again. Love the player and the person.
