Gretzky first few years there were a lot old vets just about on the way out and youngsters brought in...so stats can be deceiving plus the goaltenders were pretty tiny like Dustin Wolf with few behemoths like in todays NHL

In the article that I read this morning (on a Russian site) the author suggests that maybe Ovi will announce his own brand when he breaks the record. On the 3rd photo you can see an "8" on the stick.

AO post career will be interesting to see what he does. The one thing it is hard to imagine is him going the coaching route.

Hes always put alot of detail into his sticks and tape. He should make his own brand

Not sure if the break is going to help or hurt Ovechkin. He had put together his best few games post-injury and now he has to wait 2 more weeks before the next game.

I think the rest of the team could use the break though.

If he preps like he did to start the season...

At 39 years old the body doesn't heal like it did at 25. He also knows himself. I imagine it can only be a good thing for him.
