Jeff Marek - whoever that is - launches into a tirade about how he was talking to "someone" (in typical sneaky bigot fashion, he won't admit which bigot was spewing this trash), he starts focusing on nationality and asking "What is Putin going to do with a Russian beating the Canadian/Ukranian record?"

Then Bissionette idiotically asks "What do you think the probability that Putin is in the building when he breaks the record? 100%?"

And it doesn't get any less dumb from there.

I gotta say, I don’t know what the heck you’re talking about…..I listened, and I challenge everyone else to listen, 3:01 to about 3:06:30….

They’re are completely joking about Putin coming to the game he breaks the record, AND….given the incoming US Administration….?

On Putin wanting to take advantage (in political rhetoric) of the idea that a Russian is passing a Canadian with Ukrainian heritage it’s really a stretch? Really?

Yeah I don’t expect most people to pick up on raging xenophobia and how it works. That’s why it’s able to persist in broad daylight. It’s how Don Cherry thrived for so long. For most people, a few backhanded denials covers for quite a bit. So if they claim everyone is behind Ovie, that somehow makes up for invoking Putin and going so far as to tie in Gretzky’s pre Canadian ancestry and claim to be “scared” about what evils might happen if Ovie breaks the record.

Marek specifically mentions someone off record who brought up the whole idea….it’s just a discussion point among 3 dudes trying to fill four hours.
