Rumor: Alexander Nikishin contract dispute?

It seems the issue is contract status.

Nikishin didn’t travel half-way around the world for Carolina to not register his contract. Nobody wants to sit around in limbo, with their thumb up their rear-end, with no contract, not knowing if they’ll be sent to the AHL or play in the SC playoffs.

And even if he doesnt play, register his contract and treat him like he’s a valuable member of the team.
Does not registering the contract mean it’s signed or not offered to the player for signing?

So he's been practicing but not actually getting paid for it?

Genius work by the Canes

I think his contract is signed. But Carolina did not initially register it with the NHL. It needs to be registered for it to be valid.
Is there a time frame the canes have to register once it’s signed? Is that time period now past so it’s void?
This really makes no sense. Why not register a signed contract?

Well there we go, I expect him to be in the lineup game 4.

I think not registering it so he could play on an AHL PTO even though he refused to do so was needless but that was fun to speculate over at least.

I don't doubt that he would be unhappy playing AHL games, but if you're wondering who might be lying, I'd start with the source of this rumor.... A KHL agent who would love nothing more than to have Nikishin back in Russia so he could represent him again, given he is signed to a different agency and agent here in the US.

I dunno, just seems like there might be some kind of motivation there
That's nonsense. Why would Nikishin retain the services of a rogue agent starting rumors and problems for him from across the world? I don't see the motivation here, the move would be career suicide for the agent.

Why would they consider a game in Chicago for a guy that's completely ready for NHL games?
Brind'amour has 6 defenseman he likes and isn't going to sit one unless there's injury or they lose, since he likes shaking up the lineup after a loss and is loathe to do so after a win

Nikishin is a left shot. Which left shot D comes out?

afaik, Carolina knew he wasn't initially going to play in the Stanley Cup playoffs, so the AHL was an option for him. But he couldn't play in the AHL with a valid NHL contract. So Carolina were keeping all options open by keeping him in limbo. I can understand the reasoning, but it would suck from Nikishin's point of view.
Not a very good way to treat employees.

Carolina is in debt to Montreal for stealing Habs legend "Kotkaniemi." So I could see them trading Nikishin to the Habs for a couple of picks.

lol I couldn't tell a single take of yours or any other bruins fan here and yet there's multiple of you who have been following me around for years, pretty funny. enjoy being a bottom 10 team for the next half decade plus
No one following. Just an odd assortment of low quality trolling attempts on the Bruins over the years and as a Carolina fan it is most peculiar. Aside from the Scott Walker suckerpunch on Aaron Ward has there been anything memorable between the two teams in the last 20 years?

The Bruins are rather unlikely to be a bottom ten team for 5+ seasons, so add this to the list.
