I was beaten on here by Carolina fans for merely suggesting the possibility it might not work out after a season or two when it was declared he would already be a long term Carolina player.
"Including Pasta" as though there would be more. You forget the Bruins have a top 5 pick in this draft. There is no combination of assets from Boston that would get Nikishin without including Pasta
And as is being reported, the agent is likely covering for his own incompetence....
From a Sr. Editor for NHL.ru...
Also, Nikishin's actual agent released a statement to clarify things....
That's just false but I get your pointThere is no combination of assets from Boston that would get Nikishin without including Pasta
Top 5 pick moves the needle very little for the Canes frankly, and nothing else the bruins have is even remotely interesting to give up Nikishin. Obviously it’d be Nikishin + for Pasta (although that value could change once we actually see him play in the NHL and if he gets a good value contract this summer which is rumored to be in the cards). Personally I wouldn’t even do Nikishin for Pasta straight up, but I’m also higher on Nikishin than anyone and think he’ll be a cost controlled Hedman caliber 2 way 1D within the next few years. Odds are I’m wrong on that but we’ll see soon enough"Including Pasta" as though there would be more. You forget the Bruins have a top 5 pick in this draft.
I agree. Niskishin and Willander making trade rumours very interesting right nowScrewing around with your stud defensive prospect's ELC is so hot right now
Insane take - classic hfboards magic beans overvaluation...Personally I wouldn’t even do Nikishin for Pasta straight up...
nah I just don't think Pastrnak at 11M is worth as much as people think. Could potentially get a better player in Marner for a bit more than that as a UFA without needing to give up any assets too. Pasta at times has been a net negative in the playoffs due to his inconsistent effort and incredibly poor defense.Insane take - classic hfboards magic beans overvaluation
You get Pastrnak for Nikishin, you 100% do it.nah I just don't think Pastrnak at 11M is worth as much as people think. Not a serious opinion at allI don't.
I don’t understand the Hangup.
It’s not like he can ask for more than an ELC. Give him that with whatever bonuses and try to have a good relationship with him. No way they’re about to burn a bridge with their top prospect over that are they?

Yeah, i get that but to burn a bridge with the best D prospect in hockey right now over that seems totally insane. The logic they were using is that if they signed him to the NHL deal, he couldn’t play for the Wolves for the AHL playoffs, if that’s the route they wanted to take.
And that logic made sense at the start of the playoffs for both teams. However, with Carolina guaranteed (at least) 4 more games and the Wolves’ next game possibly being their last one, it no longer makes sense to hold him in limbo between the two.
