Draisitl doesn’t play with him, they did play on the PP the other night.Edmonton is dependent on 1 line, Toronto not so much, they got goals from 3 lines last night
1 game sample nice.

where did i say any of that? Are you really that daft that you don't see a difference between being elite on the PK vs ES, two entirely different states of the game? Additionally you don't think a guy who dominates play at ES where a vast majority of the game is played should be given full credit for his defensive play there and should automatically be excluded from any comparison to your prescious Barkov because they choose not to use him there when he's much more suited to dominate the other 98% of the game? Tough luck I guess.

We could use the defence but Matthews is too fun to pass up.
Same as Edmonton this year, watch them as well.Watch Leaf games they almost never depend on 1 line it's usually at least 2 going.
Last night it was 3

Your point was they played together, they don’t.I live in Alberta, I do watch them
If Mcdavid or Draisatil don't produce they usually don't win.
They have depended on 2 guys for several years hopefully Kane can help with that

Agree, it was worded they have 1 line scoring. The words "they play together." were never said

28 goals - 49 points in his past 33 games. That's literally approaching 2010-11 Crosby levels with an elite defensive game on top, and while the league is higher scoring now Matthews goal scoring numbers are obviously far more sustainable in comparison.
I guess it's just easier to point the finger at someone elseYeah, no bias by Leafs fans. Never. LOL.
That comment applies to you as well.Matthews will never be a better defensive player. Please watch a game.
I got alot to read still but it seems like your trying to avoid giving an answerYou guys win. I can’t fight delusion. Mr. 4 second PK is the best. Once again proving why many people don’t respect analytics as the whole
Truth.
As opposed to Florida's playoff successI disagree. Barkov can play with 3rd liners no problem. Edmonton, Toronto and Colorado have shown there isn't much success in playoffs when you are too dependent on two players / one line to produce.
Are we using awards to determine which player is better? If so the Hart and Rocket Richard are all heavily in Matthews’ favor.Matthews' defensive play has been slowly getting more and more over rated.
I think it's an attempt to make up for his lack of production compared to the top players in the league.
Last 3 years selke voting:
Barkov: 71 first place votes and a selke.
Matthews: 0 (edit: he has 1) first place votes and no selke.
What Hart? Are we using awards to determine which player is better? If so the Hart and Rocket Richard are all heavily in Matthews’ favor.
Matthews has never won a Hart. Barkov has the Selke and Matthews the Rocket.Because I want the most valuable player on my team, I’m sure those experts know best.
Vote totals. Barkov was never second in Hart trophy voting.Matthews has never won a Hart. Barkov has the Selke and Matthews the Rocket.
Leafs brigade in full force, dayshift has started for them it seems!
All this talk about "offensive gap > their defensive gap" when that offensive gap is like 6 points in the course of a season if even that, and that goes straight into margin of error. To top it off Matthews has had way better team around him than Barkov has until this season.
Glassthews hasn't even played a full season in the NHL yet.
I'd take Barkov over Matthews anyday.
