Big fan of Lacombe, but this is Vlasic by a mile.

In two separate plays last night Vlasic kept pace with a rushing Connor McDavid 2/3rds of the ice after turning and chasing him on the backcheck, and neutralized McDavid one-on-one facing up from the blueline in. It was truly impressive watching at ice level.

Size, speed, reach, denying the puck, stick checking, quick puck movement, zone exits, carrying the puck, zone entries…all very impressive. His improvement over the past three years is amazing, and he’s just getting better. He’s not solely a shutdown defender…there’s a burgeoning offense in him too.

Vlassic is a surprisingly very good skater and mobile defenseman for his size. He’s blown the doors off all of our expectations in Chicago and we’re thrilled with him
