Value of: Alex Vlasic in a trade

Trading Vlasic for JJ Peterka would be an awful move for the Hawks. There is no reason they should even consider trading Vlasic, no forward upgrade would be worth it.

He's a cornerstone defenseman. Drafts some more young forwards, or pick someone up in free agency. If Vlasic were ever actually traded, the return would be enormous. Teams would be falling over eachother trying to outbid the other.
Everything said here is 110% correct.

Keep Vlasic and draft or acquire via free agency the one or two forwards needed to go along with the plethora of (1st-3rd round) prospects in the pipeline, only 25-30% of whom need to hit for the team to be completely stocked. Chances are, just as Vlasic has ascended, that a couple/few are going to surprise beyond their draft pedigree.

After 1C, 1D, and 2C, I think the elite defensive dman might be the fourth most valuable player type you can have. If the hawks get Schaefer, I’m sure Vlasic would bring a much better forward than Korchinski, but you keep Vlasic at all costs.

Bingo. And a great guy in the room too.

Not a fan of either team. Feel like tons of upside for Chicago here tho.
It's certainly not a terrible offer but I'd say, as, likewise not a fan of either team - Vlasic is both by far the most important player of the group now and also by far has the biggest physical upside left untapped. The rare upside here is Vlasic, not Laffy or Schneider.

Would William Eklund from the sharks be enough? A top line, 70 pt player who plays a fast and skilled game.

He's on the ascendancy but he isn't a 70 point player yet - top was 58 points this season. I think probably not because he's under 6' and one of the criteria is to be 6' or taller because the Hawks need size in the top-6 to go along with 5'10" Bedard and 5'10" Nazar and soon to come 5'11" Lardis and 5'9" Kantserov.

Feels like the value of Vlasic in this thread is legitimately absurd.

Good, big young defenders are expensive.

He’s not untouchable, but yes, it would likely take a pretty significant return.

And people outside of Chicago don’t understand his value as a teammate. I legitimately worry about the message it would send moving him. Some people have floated the possibility of him being captain.

So yes, he holds significant value to Chicago.

Like both but I’d rather have Vlasic going forward then the combo of both

That's fine, but it's like people are acting like that is a pittance for Vlasic.

I assume the alleged analytic impacts are fair overvaluing what the player would return in a trade.

He's a good young player, but in reality he's more of a luxury than a foundational piece.

Doesn't make any sense for the Hawks to trade and I understand that.

It’s a trade value thread on an Internet forum. Pretty much every thread goes this way.

Luxury or foundational piece. Kid is good at his job on a really bad team. Signed long term. Big and can skate. More offense to his game then he shows at time. Eats minutes, runs a power play decent when given a shot.

Will they move him? Probably not cause your looking for someone like him right after or when the hawks get a point potentially they are ready to compete for the playoffs.

Hawks would be better off signing a Boeser or Ehlers for similar cap hit to Lafreniere as they only cost money.

Snider doesn't fill any needs for Chicago.

Will say you want to know the value to the hawks for Vlasic it would be a comparable young center. Now before it goes off the rails they can sign wings or move young centers to the wings. Big two way young center. If not they don’t need draft picks or more young wingers that aren’t proven.

If they trade Vlasic fire everyone. He's a hometown cornerstone signed for less than Markey value with leadership ability. A 23 year old 70 point winger signed for 5 more years for relative peanuts is the starting point.

Guys like Vlasic are a market inefficiency. That doesn't make unicorns less rare.
