I’ll take it a step further. While this was a down year for the team in general, Romo was the best Dman on the entire squad.Romanov has developed into a legit beast for us. He stepped up big time this year. Hes still really young. We should be signing him long term.
No argument here.I’ll take it a step further. While this was a down year for the team in general, Romo was the best Dman on the entire squad.
Not interested unless it’s Old McDonalds farm, eieio.I'd move the farm if this player was ever available.
He’s not untouchable but Pelech is the guy to move if we draft Schaefer. It seems like I might have a lower opinion of him than most Isles fans. To me he’s a solid #4 defenseman 2 way defenseman that lays big hits. I really don’t see him as untouchable but maybe I’m in the minority here.
Not giving that one up. But then again, what's mine is yoursNot interested unless it’s Old McDonalds farm, eieio.

I think it also depends on the new GMs plans. If they are thinking of a deep rebuild, picks or younger guys make sense. Don't hijack your buddies threadWhat about the farmer who had a dog? You think the dog is available? His name is B-I-N-G-O.

I don’t understand how any of these names impact Romanov now or in the futureSort of just thinking through options post lottery, but if the Isles take Schaefer, they'll have a bit of a log jam at LHD. George showed he's not out of place on an NHL roster this season, and we have recent 2nd rounders Pulkinnen and Odelius developing in Bridgeport (Bolduc as well). This is in addition to Pelech (M-NTC) and Perunovich (RFA) under team control at the NHL level (plus UFA Mike Reilly).
Obviously love Romanov (RFA this summer) but maybe there's a team that would trade a similar aged top 6 forward for him?

I'm not a Leafs fan, I just want you guys to win the Stanley Cup this year because my favorite teacher was a Leafs fanI don't think the Leafs need to do much, if anything on defense going into next season, their priority will be forwards.

That's all.
Honestly some combination of picks/prospects. Ideally to move the contract off completely and clear the cap of his hit/term.How much for Pelech?
If they take Schaefer it doesn't mean he is ready to play next year. Also Romanov is still young so there is no rush to move him. Maybe get him on a long term deal at a reasonable cap hit and his value would be more in 2 years imo. There is also no rule about having too many quality NHL level dmen.Sort of just thinking through options post lottery, but if the Isles take Schaefer, they'll have a bit of a log jam at LHD. I’d take Buium and the 2nd. Additional years of ELC even if he’s slightly more of a project.Berggren and a 2nd?
Or, Buium and 2nd

Romy is the absolutely last dman on this roster you consider trading. Im going to guess Pelech has one year left on the Island then he'll be traded. Isles 26-27 Defense:
Romanov- Dobson
Schaefer-Pulock
George-Mayfield
#7 whoever
Mayfields term given style is the only issue. With the cap hits where they are at now and going forward, these are easy contracts for value.
Pelech - $5.75m until 2029 (4 left)
Pulock - $6.51m until 2030 (5 left)
Mayfield - $3.5m until 2030 (5 left)
Essentially the new GM has their work cut out for them. In a vacuum, Pelech gets moved for futures so the Isles fully clear the player from the cap but I doubt it'll be that simple unfortunately.
