I'm not sure. I haven't been following the Hitmen very closely, but as a casual Blades fan, I noticed they are again a strong team and can pour it on when needed (as evidenced by their 9-4 drubbing of the Blades the other night). I would gather Roach is one of their better players.
However, Dean Lombardi seems less inclined to trade prospects unless it will bring in an impact player. Quite honestly, I don't see anything on the Flames that would be an immediate impact player. Iginla does not seem to be the player he was 5 years ago. He would be a role player on the Kings and not someone who would substantially improve the Kings. Plus, I figure Iginla has maybe three years left, if that. I don't want to see the Kings trade away their future for essentially a player in the twilight of his career. However, even the most impressive Junior player can turn out to be a dud. I'd say Colten Teubert is case in point. So Alex Roach may very well be available to the Flames in a year or two.
Though, I could see Dean Lombardi making the deal so long as Calgary's first this year is in the mix. Though, I don't see the deal happening with out a first rounder in the mix. I also don't think the Kings will trade a veteran player along side Roach to Calgary anyhow. Next year the Flames join the Kings' division, so trading within your division is always a bad idea.
