Ive been watchinh Habs for 30+ years. Higgins had a real good shot, never had the skating of Newhook (not saying it was bad, but not elite in the league). But i agree that both are not top 6 player.

I thought he was decent. Having Roy and Gallagher on the same line is a poor decision, and even Newhook's speed can't counter their lack of it. Other than that I thought he did fine given the circumstances. I think he's better on the wing, but he CAN play C and its not an experiment for me. There's some wingers who can fill in, and he's one of them.

He much more of a center than a winger, that's pretty damn clear by now. It's where he needs to play going forward if we want to get the most out of him for the remainder of his contract. He needs to be in Dvorak's spot next season IMO.

I think Newhook is developing very, very nicely. I think if we had a deeper line-up, he'd provide more offence as well. I'm very happy to have him here. Just need to get a little bit more "fight" in him.

He might be better as a C than a winger. This guy is freaking fast! no wonder he won Montreal's fastest player. Looking better all the time,encouraging to see.

The biggest grip I have with him is he whiffes on a lot of pucks this year. But could be bad luck à la Lehkonen here

He skates well but that’s it. He seems to panic whenever there’s pressure to do something with the puck. Either a forechecker in the defensive zone, or figuring out when to shoot in the offensive zone.
He'll really exploit Newhook's speed by creating space drawing defenders so Newy has a lane to the net

Agreed, once he dials it in and gets a nice fast linemate we will have a real 2nd line. I think him and Demidov will be deadly.

If they are on the same line next year, then something is seriously wrong. Newhook has to be on the 3rd line.

lol he has 1 point in his last 8 games and people think he’s playing well. 38.3% on faceoffs. Man the standards are so low.
He's Josh Anderson (before this season) with good PR. Guy has 0 hockey sense. Guy spent his entire life as the best skater in his league that he never had to develop his hockey sense.

So the only possible value he can bring to a team is offence. And he has 22 points. 1 in his last 8 games.
But "you need to watch the game" is your only response to anything anyone says so I’m not surprised.

1 point in 8 games isn’t good, no. Getting decimated on faceoffs isn’t good, no. I don’t care if he skates well and gains the zone if he’s just going to not complete a pass or miss the net time and time again.
