He passes the puck like I do, in the general area of a guy and hope it makes it through the defender and they can pick it up. I absolutely suck at passing.

How did he become so ineffective so quickly?
He was never that effective to begin with. I think this trade has the potential to go down as one of Hughes more controversial trades should the fanbase ever turn on him. I personally don’t get what they saw with him. But he can still potentially be a decent depth player on a good team so maybe that’s what he’ll be with us down the road.

I keep saying it, he looks like someone who purged his brain during the off-season. Coaches did a lots of video review with him last year to fix his positioning and by the end of the season he looked descent. It's all lost now.

Get your arms out in front of your body more than when shooting, aim where the players is going to be instead of where you see him. It always drove me crazy in mens league to play with a guy that rifled a puck three feet behind me lol.

80% or more of last year's players are struggling....how is that possible?

Their mental state is shit and it didn't start with all the losing. Hard to say the exact cause(s) without being their therapist and everyone might have different reasons to be in that state.

It just follow what I realized a few years ago: this team has too many neurotics.

I think the enthusiasm has been impressive the last few years but losing is taking it's toll.

And most of the neurotics will be gone soon. The team had the right attitude last year. Don't know what changed unless they are down because Laine got hurt. Other than that they may not believe MSL strategy will work.

I can't recall seeing a team that doesn't stick up for each other like this one. And the ones that do stick up like Pez and Arbs get benched when they do. I'm not sure of the culture they are trying to create here when you punish the guys who stick up for you. I know they aren't the best players but we blow anyways I'd go down with my warriors.

Players not sticking out for each others pre-date the current management. I remember lots of fans were complaining about it before Covid, especially the Ds never doing shit to players dunking on Price.

nah Webs was pretty mean around our net clearing it out, he went after lots of guys when he had to. He didn't have many takers though. Even Benn and Chairot were dishing out hits and clearing the crease, our D is so pathetic now in that regard.

Our little miracle cup run we had a nasty D for the most part, very big and aggressive when needed. It's not always about dropping the mits but just some physical play in the corners which we are always on the wrong side of.

The brain trust seemed obsessed with emulating Boston but have failed to implement the most obvious and visible part of Boston's team culture...

The roster needs a kick in the ass. Scratching, waivings, benching, tradings. Start with Newhook, IDC.

So true, the Bruins went away from what they are known for and look what they have? Gorton is a p***y, that's why he was kicked out of NY they hated his lack of physical players. I have no idea where Kent stands at all , does anyone?

I didn't hate it at the time. I felt like people overvalued the picks we gave up.

That said, seeing the size composition of the roster does make him feel like a bit of an odd man out, not helped by his status as a former client of Hughes.

Yeah,

He’s building a pretty good team that is going to take time to find its way. That’s how rebuilding works. You have to go through rough patches to get there.

As for us emulating the Bruins I have no idea where that came from. We’re investing in skilled play. Some guys will pan out and some guys won’t. No doubt we’ll tweak things as we go.

We’re not going to be anything like Boston though. And honestly I don’t want us to be. They lucked out on a cup in 2011 but have consistently underperformed. HUGO wants us to go back to the fire wagon hockey of the 70s. No doubt we’ll need some size and toughness but honestly we’ve already got some of that here. Unfortunate that RB wasn’t available because I think he probably would’ve been brought in later this year.

This is what rebuilding looks like man.

Losing players to injuries, losing board and 1v1 battles, losing games. The team lost a lot, and the season had not started already.

You felt the whole fanbase deflate when Reinbacher and Laine got injured back-to-back in that first period of a meaningless preseason game. It must've affected the players as well, there's always a human aspect to a sport and each individual team.

It's another season that's trending the tank way, another one to learn from and attempt not to repeat. I trust Martin Leclerc's assertion early in the season the players in the dressing room looked disinterested or defeated... Something along those lines, sort of demoralized.

It'll be a long season folks.
