Proposal: Alex Nedeljkovic to Edmonton

A 2nd would be more than fine but I imagine the Pens only get that if there are multiple teams involved and one team needs to step up to get him. Otherwise, a 3rd is totally realistic.

If it's just a 3rd, I could see a minor swapping of prospect too. Something like Neds+Poulin for 3rd+Petrov or something like that.

Well if we can't get Gibson or Vejjy, isn't it better we get him than enter the playoffs with what we have?

And not to draw direct parallels, but Roli wasn't exactly considered elite when we acquired him to save us from the fledgling tandem we had in '06.
Roloson was an average NHL starting goalie. I'm not sure if Ned is average or not.

I don't see Ned as a big upgrade on what we've got, truthfully. His raw numbers are underwhelming, his advanced stats are underwhelming, and we'd have to do cap shenanigans to fit him in. Don't really see the point in doing all that and giving up assets for what's not a sizable upgrade. He's better than Pickard but not by enough. IMO.

I've followed Ned a long time and he's a unique case, I don't really think he fits well in most systems. He needs a good defense in front of him and needs to get consistent starts/in to a groove. It's not a surprise he's playing his best hockey of the season after Jarry was waived and he's getting more starts. I have a feeling he'd be splitting a lot of time in Edmonton, I don't see him as much of an upgrade over Skinner/Pickard.

I'd do Ned for a 2nd. Signed and delivered.

These are the kinds of moves the Pens need to be making. Ned is our best goalie right now, but Blomqvist is already up as a backup. Murashov is a year away on the same or better trajectory than Blom. Larsson is still down there wondering why he hasn't gotten a call up despite out performing Blomqvist in the A, and if all else fails Jarry is still in the system taking up space. There is no deeper position on the Pens than goal, with two guys who have ceilings as solid starters if they pan out.

Done.
