Player Discussion Alex Killorn

These kind of passionate players take extra care of themselves as much as they can and live and breathe hockey. He brings everything we need. We have cap, this also sends a strong message to Zegras and our youngsters this off-season that the hard times are over. Helps with contract talks with zegras probably

Versatile Top 9 forward who can insulate and teach the kids.

Sometimes you have to overpay for intangibles to make bottom feeders respectable. The last two years might hurt, but at least he’ll be gone by the time the team turns that corner.

Man, I was all over the Gudas signing. I think we nailed the head on that one.

The Killorn signing is large in terms of AAV (expected). The years confuses me. Frick it, give sign him for 6.5m and one less year if possible. Speculation would be that he wouldnt sign and would play hard ball if we didn't give him the additional year.

I think if he wanted to go to a competitive team he would have to sign for 4.5m / 3 years. Maybe the team could even get a 2 year contract.

It sucks to suck :(

At least we are identifying a need in our lock room and over all team identity which many of us struggled with last season. I'll give this signing a C? C+? God I don't like that term hahah

IMO the biggest thing that will sway my opinion on this is what kinda NTC or NMC this contract has. Killorn could be a huge deadline pickup.

1 year too long and 2m more than he should've got but I don't think it'll cause too much trouble for us in the long run so I'm fine with it, worst case scenario we buy him out in his last year or two if we desperately need the cap space

More than I'd like for longer than I'd like but great pick-up and the reality is that by the time cap is actually an issue for us, he'll be off the books.

In 4 years...

3 x $5m would have been a more reasonable deal. That's $10m
100% would not sign in Anaheim for that. This is more reasonable for sure.
I think I have to echo this repeatedly to help others (and myself) to understand these signings when we acquire good players. We are a bottom feeding team that is looking to get better. We are going to have to throw cash around like candy

1 year too long I’ll agree with but some of you guys are tripping if you think he’s a 4 million dollar player. He’s scored over 120 points the last two seasons and is perhaps the preeminent complimentary winger in the game. He should easily be worth that deal next year.
