Beautiful dog, I hope you have lots of time to walk/exercise your dog. Do yourself a favour and get her a big dog bed. Large dogs tend to get hip problems.
I was doing about 60-70kms a week running prior to getting her. I have plenty of time to walk and exercise her, I aim for 20-30k steps per day.

Yes they have issues with hip dysplasia. Both her parents were checked for it and do not have it, which doesn’t mean she is free from it, but it does greatly reduce her chances. I have her crate lined with a 3 inch foam mattress.

Sunshine! Giant farm girl Golden we bought for 300 bucks… 90lbs and not fat. View attachment 624021

Not quite as big yet. She’s tired out, had a good, productive day today. She’s getting annoyed with me. I make her sit and enter the house only after I have entered first. She’s a bit excited and doesn’t always comply on the first command, but she’s learning.

I’m no dog expert or trainer. Sunny was our 1st family dog. No training. What I can tell you with absolute certainty? She’s the giant asshole that got my daughter and family through Covid. Fantastic and silly.

Is that one of those places where the dogs were going to be put down/living in terrible places?

I saw a trucking school made a drive, but I can't remember if it was towards North Bay/Sudbury, or Thunder Bay.

Either way, congrats on the pup ! You would have taken a rip through the Ottawa Valley, basically this areas rednecks.

Beware, their energy level never goes down. Even Huskies mellow with age. I have dozens of friends with mamalutes from my time in China and they are big babies. They get the worst separation anxiety too and yell loud enough your neighbouhood will think there's someone being murdered.

Other than they they're awesome I love playing with them.

Alaskan are pack dogs, hope you are prepared to find her a friend in a shelter, haha. Here's Laska the Alaskan and Django the big goofy dog.
Lolol, very cute. I have already put forth my deposit for a second malamute in March. Different litter, same breeder. Boy this time, instead of girl. That will give me 3 months to help get this one under control and hopefully her brother will take some notes off of her.

Do you get a name ? i was thinking " Mamouth " the malamut

edit; or Mutan
Her name is Helena. She was named after the most influential girl in my life, my mom, who is no longer with us.

That is one beautiful pup !! Congratulations on the addition to your family.
Thank you.

No, I got her from IronPride Malamutes. Stephanie has some of the best behaved and most beautiful dogs in the country imo. Go check her out, Creed is Helena’s father and Sephora is her mother.

Ray who is an absolute stud is the father of the boy coming in March.

Yeah, I’m well aware of their energy levels and separation anxiety issues. Socializing them is important so that they can trust another member

I’m trying to introduce her to 3 ppl a day, everyday, for the first month to reach 100 ppl, repeat visits are welcomed. She takes a little bit to get to know ya, but once she does, she’s a friendly as can be pup.
Beautiful dog @BehindTheTimes !!! Congratulations!!

While, as for us, we have this thing at home:

Amazing, I love seeing everyone’s beautiful dog. Lots of variety here so far.

Belly rubs are Helena’s favourite.

That's the way! Do it with other dogs if you have the opportunity as well.

Ours loves the municipal dog parks so much that we have to pronounce the words "parc à chien" in English in front of her, otherwise she goes ape shit!

We got a 10 month old mini Bernedoodle. Gotta say, as cute+tiny as they are, don't miss the puppy phase. Those puppy teeth destroyed some nice hoodies and sweat pants haha. She's 40lbs now (I think final form) but they definitely grow fast. Take all the pictures you can because it's amazing how much they change in short period of time. :)

Every time I see dogs posts, my itch is getting stronger

A co-worker asked me to get a Golden so we could breed the dogs
They are a lot of work. This girl is a handful, but I knew that prior to. They are amazing companions though, I’m completely prepared. I’ve been reading about Malamutes for months, years even. I’ve wanted one for 25 years, but was never in a position to take one on. I am now.

I had a mutant 16lb feral cat that we saved as a kitten during a Thanksgiving ice storm. His name was Gus. Treated me with mild contempt… but loved my wife and daughter to no end. You won’t believe how big he was. No fat just a monster.

Amazing haha. I kid you not, but the name of Helena’s brother that I’m getting in March is Gus. Too funny. He doesn’t know it yet.

Gus is beautiful. What a beast. Looks like he was a big boy.

He passed 4 years ago. I’m not trying to hijack this thread, but after Covid? I came to realize how important it is to have one of these furry turds around. Sunshine? Right now she is sleeping in my spot on the bed next to my wife… just waiting for me under the blankets for a surprise attack! Fantastic stuff!

I remember one of my old coworkers drove to Washington (from BC) to get a dog once. I wish I had that kind of motivation lol. But she took a friend with her to help with the border crossing and to make the trip less of a drag.

Gorgeous creature.
