Svech is not producing anymore. Still keep him with Staal and Warren. Bad choice. Skip Staal with haula and everything will be ok

Except it's the PP where he's mainly not producing in Dec, so it really doesn't have much to do with being on a line with Staal and Foegele. :dunno: If you remove PP points from Svech's totals:
Oct: 7 points in 12 games
Nov: 10 points in 15 games
Dec: 7 points in 13 games

If you look at which players have the highest 5v5 GF/60 on the Canes in December (for guys that played at least 10 games):
1)Svechnikov: 3.57
2) TT: 3.25
3) Staal: 3.1
4) McGinn: 2.91
5) Foegele: 2.73

If you look at which players have the highest 5v5 xGF/60 on the Canes in December (for guys that played at least 10 games)
1) Staal: 3.31
2) Svechnikov: 3.25
3) Foegele: 3.13

So to me, all the data says that it's his PP production that has tailed off in December.

Won't someone please think of the narratives?!?!

...

What's great, is the Powerplay in December has been amazing. (29.3). To start the season, Aho was kind of the odd man out on the PP. Now they are leaning Svech/Dougie, and Aho has gotten a big bump enjoying more space down low as the forwards are chasing more up top.

You hate it .... now. It’s cyclical. Used to be trash.

Catching Washington of NYI is gonna be tough. In fact NYI could be tied with Washington if they won out the games in hand they have. Pit would be 1 point behind if they won out their games in hand but you have to think at some point with all their injuries they will start to fall back.

The Atlantic is pure trash and other than the Bruins (who’s point total is serenely inflated due to 10 OT/SO losses) there isn’t anyone who is a real threat there. It will be 5 from the metro and 3 from the Atlantic. We need to stay ahead of the Flyers and hopefully pass Pit to get the 3rd seed.

Hey id love 2nd or tops in the division but I just don’t see Washington or NYI stumbling much in the second half. They were good teams last year and they are carrying through this year.

Haula's goal the difference in Canes' 3-1 win

by Michael Smith @MSmithCanes / CarolinaHurricanes.com
Erik Haula's second-period marker, his 11th goal of the season, held up as the winner.
The scoring sequence began with
Teuvo Teravainen skating into the zone and cutting across at the blue line to bide time while friends to pass to skated into the frame. Teravainen stickhandled before laying the puck down low to Brett Pesce. Pesce then spun a backhand pass to the front of the net, where Haula was stationed all alone for the easy tap in.
"That was a great play," Haula said. "It started with Turbo. Great play at the blue line. Good patience waiting for guys to come. That's what led to me being so open."
Though he's only played in 21 games this season, Haula ranks fourth on the team in goals (11).
"He's done an incredible job, really, all year. It's just unfortunate he had to miss about a month there. He solidifies our lineup," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "That line has been really effective all year and lately now that he's back."
Hurricanes power play: 1-for-2. Hurricanes penalty kill: 3-for-3.
"That was the difference," Brind'Amour said.

Sebastian Aho had the power play goal, scored just 1:55 into the game. Haula, from below the goal line, spun to the front of the net, a power move from a powerful net-front presence. Aho crashed the net and batted the rebound out of mid-air. A quick review confirmed that Aho's stick was below the crossbar, and the Canes had an early 1-0 lead.
"It was really good tonight," Teravainen said. "I think we're learning from the mistakes. It was a way better effort tonight."
"We all take pride in our kill, so it's nice to get back on track," Pesce said.

"Taste Finnish know-how!" needs to be a war cry. Is 67 touchdowns many?

Finnish trio shine in a decisive role in Carolina's victory - Sebastian Aho still roasts in fierce pace

Erik Haula was selected as the number one star in the final matchup between the Carolina and Montreal in the final round of the 2010 NHL. The home team's Finnish trio were heavily featured as the Carolina Hurricanes clocked 3-1 at the Montreal Canadiens at home. After nearly two minutes of play, the trio took the lead in the Carolinas with overwhelming power. Teuvo Teräväinen and Erik Haula took the lead, and Sebastian Aho kicked a 1-0 lead from the air in a baseball style paintball. The finish was Aho's 23rd of the season. A moment later, Montreal fell to levels, but in the second installment it had to taste Finnish know-how again. This time Teräväinen did the groundwork, and Haula fired a 2-1 lead to the winning goal. Montreal celebrated a 2-2 draw at the end of the third period, but the home team's head coach Rod Brind'Amour took advantage of the challenge and the goal was eventually abandoned due to a goalkeeper interference. In the end, a decisive 3-1 match was scored on an empty goal. Match Score: Aho had a thousand bucks early in the third period to score the second goal of the evening, but Charlie Lindgren, who guarded Montreal's goal, made a spectacular ghost save.

Lindgren's Ghost Rescue for Aho Company:

Already struggling with injury concerns, Montreal came back with brutal news as Brendan Gallagher, the cornerstone of the team's attack, left the game in the second round after the lead. Haula, who made 1 + 1, was awarded the number one star of the match. The two-point Sharp blast accompanied the blue-white glow as the second star. The Finnish trio in Carolina have been hitting hard. After 40 games, Sharp now has 7 + 33 = 40 and Aho 23 + 13 = 36. Haula, on the other hand, has scored 11 + 6 = 17 in his 21 matches. Aho is sixth on the paint exchange and Sharp on the seventh. Aho's one season goal record last season's 30 goals. The current goal strike rate for Oulu is brutal with 47 goals. At the same time, Sharp would have as many as 67 touchdowns at the end of the season.
