Series Talk: AHL Pacific Division Semis: (6) SJ vs. (1) COL- Game 1 Fri 5/2

Didn't really think Tucson had a chance against Abbotsford, think I can safely call that one over.

Division semis are going to be
Colorado vs. San Jose
Abbotsford vs. Coachella Valley

Barracuda have a 3-5-0-0 record against the Pacific's #1 seed Colorado.

Eagles get home ice advantage for this best of five series, and it's worth pointing out that they had the best home record in the AHL this season at 26-6-2-2 (.778 pts%). We did get a surprising win over them in Colorado on 4/4.

And it means the Barracuda are going to host playoff games for the first time since 2019.

Define "decently priced".

In my experience, playoffs are 25%+ (face value) above RS prices.

(IIRC, 2016 STH price for finals was 25x more than RS price.)

Decently priced as in not 200$+

I remember going to game 6 of the SCF and paying 430 to sit up top. That was totally expected and actually a decent deal considering I’m not a STH

Interested to see how we're lining up in practice, my initial reaction is we might just go Gushchin and Carlsson in for Houle and Keane. Defense has played well so far. Offense has lacked some punch.

Very different team we're playing compared to the Reign. I remember the Eagles tend to beat us in transition/on the rush, and they LOVE one-timers from outside the dots. That and Jacob MacDonald just blasting pucks in. Good team. They're going to be frustrating.

For anyone unaware of how much of a factor former Shark Jacob MacDonald can be, he set the AHL record in goals by a defenseman this season (31) and won the Eddie Shore award (their version of the Norris). He's a pretty big reason the Eagles are as good as they are.

I don't mind them pulling Houle and Keane out for Goose and Carlsson. Keane has been...fine and I like Houle's grit but we really need the scoring pop that Goose and Carl bring.

Seriously McDonald was crazy good for the Eagles this season. I know he got hurt in one of the last games against the Cuda this year so let's hope that injury is a nagging one that keeps him at less than 100%

So forward-wise, just Gushchin in for Duehr? Okay, sure. Still would've moved Graf down to line 2 and not Cardwell. And then they just straight swapped Keane out for Carlsson. No other lineup changes at all, bottom 6 is exactly as it was last round.

Donavan Houle being healthy is good news, but I'm surprised he's a fixture in the lineup now that it's playoff time.

I noticed his stats the other day and did a double take. I guess that means he spent the full season as a defenseman and not on the wing like we sometimes had him here.
