its 29 dollars a month

Idk, getting paid to watch hockey seems- wait, you pay them!? Oh ffs.. weird. I get that there’s die-hards, but for me the minor league was when I didn’t have money for the big league product. I just can’t imagine paying $30 a month for almost the best hockey you can watch.

Rip-off, should be free, grow the game, yada yada.

Personally I love paying for streaming services, I just can't believe there are people that are monstrous enough to do anything other than that.

Whether $29 or $39 a month, either way that’s a fairly high bill for a streaming service.

On the other hand, you also have to consider that these games are largely not on TV at all, and that the AHL is a relatively small company with a product that only runs half the year and is financially dependent on people watching the games in person. Expecting them to try and match prices with Disney or Amazon isn’t realistic. It’s expensive because it’s a premium option for a boutique product.

At the end of the day, most minor league fans pay $30 a ticket to see their teams play. You now have the option to spend that same amount on a month of broadcasts. If you still aren’t buying it, then minor league hockey is probably not a good entertainment option for you.

I paid $50 for an entire season worth of games for a single team last year.

The issue is it’s bundled with a bunch of other stuff and you can’t pay a single team pass.

I liked AHLTV because you could just get the team you wanted. I go to most of the Monsters home games, so it was nice to just get the away games. Luckily, I think, we have a local channel to show the games. Once the season starts I'll know if it is better.

Alternatively: it's a product very few people care about and they should probably make it as easy as possible to access

Not 100% certain how much it was last season but something like $135 for the entire regular season (1 Team's games)
$65 and with a 20 % discount (which was basically always running) was $49.
Clearly that wasn’t profitable enough to sustain. Bundling it is a pretty clear indicator of trying to keep it alive.
All it really means is flohockey bought them. No real indicator if the AHL was able to survive with AHLTV in its own right, or about the supposed profitability of AHLTV. Most AHL clubs are owned by an NHL team as is for what it’s worth.

I went ahead and got it, because I mostly watch the Barracuda and their games aren't shown anywhere else, but the price increase is incredibly frustrating. I'm a season ticketholder with the team, so I had a one-team away game only package with AHL TV. I want to say it was $45 for the whole year. Now FloHockey is $30 a month, for what I'm pretty sure is the same exact product.

Someone told me "You get all these other leagues with the subscription, though!" but again, I only watch one team. And only their road games. So yeah, I'm not thrilled.
