In the end, his skill is evident from space. He wasn't an undeserving prospect to be selected in the top 10 of the draft from a skill perspective. As we all know, his entire future depends on his health, but if he can somehow remain healthy he is going to make it to the NHL. If he can't, then he will end up as another tragic story of a kid who couldn't make it and a career cut short by concussions and injury.

There's little risk to keeping him and letting him continue to develop. I doubt the Kings are eager to jettison him for nothing, but would likely part with him if they could find an upgrade for their roster to avoid the headache of dealing with another injury riddled case. I am hoping he gets more of a look in the NHL next season. Though you know he will be in the press box and fourth line mainly via TMac.

It's also very telling that you have most of the players on the team in a pretty big minus situation, but then you have guys like Turcotte, Helenius and Gaunce who are showing up at +7/+8.

I know we hate seeing players get injured, but it gives you a look at who's really the most valuable/impactful to the team.

Reminds me of when we had both Doughty/Johnson, but then we realized how much more a guy like Carter meant to the team. Same logic is probably going to apply when talking about guys like Durzi/Walker.

A healthy, invigorated and optimum performing Turcotte, is what the Kings need

centering line 3. Lizotte goes back to his home,
centering line 4

Gaunce has seen a lot of hockey at levels and towns most do not exist(ed). I value what he says and believes.

The issue with Turcotte is that he plays a bigger game than he’s supposed to. He leaves himself too vulnerable and he gets cranked for it.

It’s a miracle Lizotte is alive with how much he gets blown up.

If Turcotte had the durability and resiliency that Lizotte had, he’d be in the NHL.

Unfortunately for Turcotte he isn’t a durable player at all and he’s small. It’s going to be lucky if he gets to have an NHL career at this point. Unless he finds the same witch doctor that has imbued Lizotte with Herculean durability.

I want Turcotte to rebound and turn into a 2c or awesome trade piece. This team needs Helenius to develop into a exceptional 3rd line center who can skate and put up points and be out f*** around and find out option like his dad was.

Yeah, last night he got hammered all night, same against Calgary. Turcotte is 6-0" which is fine. Hughes,Zegras are all the same height. You don't have to be 6-3" to be effective, just healthy. Although being 6-3" is never a bad thing.

Turcotte’s generously listed at 5’11.

Somewhat true… wow, can’t believe I said that lol..

Turcotte is absolutely getting rocked in Ontario because he’s leaving himself open trying to make things happen. The reason being that most of the guys in Ontario simply don’t have the hockey sense and IQ Alex does. That causes him to hold the puck longer than he probably wants to and that’s obvious if you’ve watched him with Onatrio.

I heard so many much different takes, issued with such tones of authority, from the posters here.
This goes to show you don't survey territory on google earth.
Nothing beats the boots of an experienced surveyor on the ground.
Thank you.

But those guys are high end offensive pieces, their teams don’t want them playing a gritty sandpaper type game. With Turcotte he is going to have to play that way to be an effective “Lizotte +” type player on the bottom lines, because he won’t score enough to be on a scoring line. That is a big dilemma with Turcotte, if you change the way he plays it greatly limits his effectiveness, but he just has not been able to stay healthy in pro hockey playing the way he has played his whole life.

I think the best path is to get him to gain as much weight as possible from now until the beginning of next season, and then see if he can have 50 games of injury-free hockey in the AHL and at that point see if he can be an improvement over Lizotte or Kupari going into next years stretch run and playoffs.

The Kings need a strategy for Turcotte's health: improve his strength and awareness. HGH or something. Review vid of when he gets clobbered by playing with too much abandon... cant just let him keep getting concussed in the A H hell. At this rate he'll end up with CTE before he's 25.

Lizotte is a cockroach, he’s a pest that can’t be killed. Maybe by conventional weapons but that could take years and millions of lives.

Yeah, I have no qualms at this point calling the Turcotte pick a bust. He would be defying so much historical precedent by turning into a top six forward at this point in his career.

Bummer. It happens to every team.

Wonder if it might be better for his health and development to just sit him now for the rest of the season and get started immediately on trying to gain weight and strength
