Post-Game Talk: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Leafs up 2-0! Win 4-3 Game 2

Foot soldiers are stepping up this year in support but Willie and Patches are da' men up front and the D and G are doing what they have all year. Surprised they are up 2-0 but they look like serious contenders.

Brad and Chief passing all the tests Dubas and Keefe failed to.
Thank God Berube didn’t pull Patches in favor of Robertson like many here wanted in the Ottawa series. They might not be where they are without him, he’s playing a great brand of hockey right now…….

I like that the Leafs came from behind in this game. It’s sometimes lost in narratives about blowing leads, that it was in fact the Panthers that blew the lead initially. For all the talk about 1st goal is so important especially if the Panthers score it, the Leafs responded.

They exposed Bob as a goalie who can be beaten. The Leafs transitioned well against the aggressive forecheck and scored on the opportunities. Loved this game.

Now onto the Panthers home barn. Leafs need to tune out fan and media talk about winning this series easily or sweeping and worry about the next shift. I think they can do that better on the road and they have the right coach to model that mindset.

Still wondering how a player who is pasted, face first, into the boards from behind gets an embellishment penalty. Of course it is the NHL and the refs do not need to answer for their actions so we will never know. Pee-wee referring at best last night. Not much better game #1.
It was a bad call, but both teams will get bad calls against them. Doesn’t fit the narrative that the league is out to get the Leafs though does it?

I know people want more out of Matthews and Marner. It's true that they haven't dazzled or been as dangerous as we normally expect them to be. But they connected for a seriously important goal! And They're matching up with Florida's top scorers, and doing great against them. Barkov also has only one point in the series. And yesterday Bennet, Reinhart, Tkachuk, and Verhaeghe combined for zero points.

The fact is, this year is finally the opposite side of the reality coin for the Leafs. This team is better than in years past, but the bounces and the timing are finally coming up heads instead of 8 years of tails.

When we used to get backbreaking goals against at the worst time, the goals are now going in for the Leafs at the perfect time. Early leads, quick response goals to stop momentum. It's great.

We used to shout in rage 'how did that go in' at an unexpected goal against. Now we're shouting it in joy at an unexpected goal for.

The little things required to close out a game are working, like a clear or a line change on the fly. Used to be so much harder looking to end a game. But now it's finally working.

Even game 2 when the Panthers were objectively the better team, The Leafs found a way to win and got the stops needed and converted when they got chances. We used to get playoff losses feeling like the Leafs were the better team. But it felt like the hockey gods just wouldn't let them advance. Now the door is being held wide open. With 2 evenly matched teams, one deserving group still loses. It was somehow the Leafs every time for almost a decade. It's nice to be on the flip side so far in round 2.

Hate to admit it but I think the refs were getting a bit of payback because Maurice made them look stupid over the last few days with his comments. About time we get something ref wise going our way.
Yeah he may have won the battle and lost the war(hopefully).

Keefe still couldn’t win a round this year. And his team looked outclassed against Carolina
I truly believe we will look back and see Keefe was an awful coach. I cant believe the Leafs gave him 5 years. A dude whos never coached in the NHL, in charge or trying to coach these young players to the cup.... Lol what a disaster it was.

He'll get canned in NJ after 2 more underperforming series. this guy hasnt out coached anyone in the playoffs.

Dubas did a lot of good things but he just never addressed the D and the goaltending was always other team's fodder. Hiring Keefe was also proven in the long run, to be the wrong decision.
I think his biggest downfall was not realizing that the 2021 collapse to Montreal was the point to make real adjustments to this group. Whether it was getting rid of Keefe and getting a real coach in or over hauling the defense...that was the point where it should have happened and he just waited to long. He wasn't all bad though. Some good trades and drafting over his time here.

I always wonder which is which. To me it makes more sense to call every two years semi because it's less than every year and call twice a year bi but I think you're right. Or not, I don't really know.
It's stupid because bi-monthly means done once every two months or twice in a month. Like f*** how can that even be possible. We're just making everything up at that point.

I know he was upset that the Leafs held him out for the last 20 games, but that was a brilliant move.

A healthy, motivated Pacs is something the Leafs have missed for years. His borderline felonious hits are keeping Fla at bay
