True story: I was at Casino Rama about 15-20 years ago (we were really there to see Loverboy - don't judge) and I played craps for the first and only time, I had no idea how to play, just did what the dealer told me to do. I rolled the dice in my hands like that before every roll and called it "The Miagi". At one point, no word of a lie, I had a crowd 4 people deep all around the table. :)

Oh and if we really did have Mr. Miagi on the training staff, we would have to hope Maurice doesn't pull Bennett aside and say "Sweep the leg".

I am not picking on you. You are a good poster.

This is a great example to remember. Everyone was great because we won? I also see a lot of posts about Matthews stepping up etc etc

The difference, was 1 shot. That Bob likely wants back. Casual fans are so result focused that they really don’t know or don’t understand how to judge the players.

If we lost that game, not a single fan would have said Matthews was great. People don’t understand the margins that affect wins. Right now. Razor thin.

It’s the part about this board I hate. (Not you OP) Lazy takes…
To be fair even taking the results out of it Matthews was great. Maurice said the game wasn't that different to game 5 and Florida got multiple bounces that game they don't normally get. I would agree with him more or less saying the Leafs were not as bad as people are saying in game 5 and not as good as people are saying in game 6. If you read the posts in the GDT before Matthews scored most of us were not happy with how the team played overall. Florida had like 3 shifts in a row where they hemmed 3 different lines for more than a minute straight. I do think people evaluate performance too much based on results but I think Matthews had a good game 6 regardless. He made 1 or 2 boneheaded plays but he was good.

Chris Tanev, poor guy, taking a beating out there. I actually kind of feel bad for him, in all honesty. Getting grinded into a pulp.

Ya, I've noticed he doesn't brace for hits real well the majority of the time. The amount of hits I've seen him take and think "that's it, he's gotta be hurt from that one" have been numerous this series. Thankfully he takes the punishment and keeps rolling. Guy's a f***ing warrior.

Hasak was also a flopper, but he could keep the puck out of his net, and to me I could care less what a goalie looks like preventing goals…….
Hasek dove to make saves. What I mean is it seems like Bob and their team is always embellishing

I didn't think it was a good goal, and not because of offside ;) ... but it is a goal Woll would get roasted for.

Yeah, Maurice was talking about the blow-out game and said analytics don't match the results. That they had multiple good bounces.

I love everything about this post, STARTING with Loverboy, one of my favourite overlooked Canadian bands, along with Triumph, who I’m loving seeing Lay It On The Line being introduced to another generation of Canadians.

Not his best shot for sure on that goal, but maybe it helps him build on something. I meant his game overall was good more so than the shot

Perfect recipe for a Leaf’s victory. Defend well, keep the game scoreless as long as possible and then they don’t have to play from behind and can let Florida start to feel some pressure and wait for their mistakes. Their increased physicality and determination as well as continuing to keep the Panthers to the outside and block a ton of shots is something that the Panthers will have to overcome to win game 7. That may happen but if the Leafs play the way they did last night, they have just as good a chance to win it. The biggest thing for them is to not feel any pressure and play free. I like their chances.

Gobsmacked actually..played great..if they lay an egg , again , at home Sunday then we will have to assume they just can't handle the pressure.. not a sports psychologist but is it possible that they care TOO much??
I don’t think caring less will help them. It’s fear of failure and the attending criticism that gets in their heads. As Berube says, just go out and play with grit and determination. Win puck battles, block shots and bear down on scoring opportunities. Play a simple game. The rest will take care of itself.

I still have a grudge with Loverboy. Me and some friends were supposed to go see them in Calgary in 1986 and they cancelled the show that night for some reason. That evening instead I was trying to impress a girl and went around a corner too fast and ran my dad's car into a lamp post. It's ALL THEIR FAULT.

Really like how when Beniot led the rush outside of the Dzone, he will pass the puck to someone and skate straight toward the net to distract the goalie while bringing a Dman or two with him. Wish more Leafs does that

Updated. Where's the Carlo is just another Holl argumentative windbag kid? Best bad take ever.

Amazing how this one is a complete reversal of the Game 5 chart someone posted. Maurice is full of it saying the Leafs were just as good in Game 5 but the Panthers got the bounces. He's just trying to say the right things to not motivate the Leafs. They were crap in that game.

All the D were within 1:30 of ice time.
Not a single forward under 10 minutes.
Only one forward over 20 minutes. (A lot of PK time).

Not sure I've ever seen that even ice time for any blueline, ever.

Maybe Berube's onto something? As I mentioned before, it certainly sends a message to everyone in that locker room that they are really valuable to the team.

For the d-men probably helps keep them alive vs. a relentless forecheck instead of having the stud pairing out their 25+ minutes and eating up most of it.
