Post-Game Talk: AHHHHHHH!!!! Leafs win 2-0 Game 6

Question for everyone talking about media chasing Matthews and Marner out. The reporters are not asking or saying anything difficult to them. The only people saying anything is sports radio and podcast. Why are players listening to that? They could easily not turn it on or listen to anything else. Are people going up to them in the streets? I never understood the media in Toronto are bad guys.
Toronto has some of the softest media in pro sports. It always has. If anything, players are probably annoyed with the media here because of how vapid they are. No one has written a good sports article in this city in decades.

As Berube cant speak directly with Nylander, he does it with leftwings.
Patch = Engage more
Mcmann = more offence
Holmberg = all D , no sudden moves

Might be the first time anyone put Canes, ECF and so many storylines into one sentence in history.
Rod brindamour was the center of that productive, annoying and effective « BBC » line (LW bates battaglia, center Rod brindamour, and RW Erik cole) on that 2002 hurricanes finalist squad, and now he’s the head coach of the team.

And former Leaf starting goaltender Frederik Andersen is waiting for us at the other end of the line.

But first let’s get rid of these annoying, dirty and violent gutter stray cats for good Sunday night….

Benny rocked that lil muffin, and he slinked away, to never be heard from again.

More of the same next game, please.
Marchand is a weasel who only acts tough when the linesmen have entered the scrum. He will never fight. He only ever does sneaky gutless infractions when he thinks the refs aren’t looking. But credit how he shows up in big games and distracts the opposing team. We would love him if was on the Leafs.

False.

Bob Elliot still writes amazing pieces about baseball.

Nice pass by Mitch and finally a Matty goal.

Good passes by both Domi and McMann and sweet tip by Patches.

Domi had a good game - a couple of excellent defensive plays along with the assist.

Glad to see more contact on Bob - both Willy and Domi going hard to the net and knocking him down (with help from the D). A little surprised neither was called, which was correct.

A rough stretch early in the second, but a pretty solid game overall.

You beat me to it. What the heck are the storylines in playing Carolina? They have one of many former crappy Leafs goalies? A coach in good shape? Three quarters of a lineup that most people don't recognize? They're a fine team, but there is a good chance that the Toronto/Carolina series will be more boring to watch than the Toronto/Ottawa series. Hopefully it will be a short one.
I'll try.

- 2002 re-do
- canes coached by a player from that series
- 2002 canes were coached by the coach the leafs just beat
- ex leafs goalie cast off four years ago
- excluding the anomaly 2006 cup, neither team has won a game in the 3rd round since the last series
- Marner vs the team he was nearly traded to
- Corsi merchants versus the exact opposite of that
- McCabe on leafs Blueline both times

That's all I got

I wonder if there's anyone who's gone to games and has thrown their jersey on to the ice multiple times?

*deep thoughts*

Nothing I love more than falling asleep for a nap at work while watching a hockey game.

When I nodded off tonight the score was 0-0 with like six shots for each team. I woke up about an hour later and it was still 0-0 with only a dozen shots a side. At that point I said to myself whoever gets the first goal wins the game.

A few minutes later Matthews scored.

Woll was the difference maker. When teams are getting less than twenty shots in a game it comes down to goaltending. For once the Leafs had good enough netminding to get them a big win when it matters most.

Three goals in three games won't cut it going forward if they want to win the cup though.

I'm living proof that work ethic equals results. Just getting by shouldn't be good enough for this team however. My boss might be happy with someone just showing up.

But more should be expected from professional athletes earning millions of dollars.
