This could easily change after this season...Drai is having a season for the ages so far (beside McD 60+ goals/150+ points season).

If by "the ages" you mean this season, then, yes, he is having one of those.

If you mean within the last 8 years, then, no, he is not having one of those. Leading in goals and T3rd in PPG is not going to move the needle much when compared to the best seasons of this generation. It's not going to be Top 5:

McDavid - 21/22, 22/23, 23/24
Kucherov - 18/19, 23/24
MacKinnon - 23/24
Matthews - 21/22 or 23/24

And MacKinnons peak was only last season, so one year before this would be not MacK but one of Kuch and Drai

Yeah, but Drai's season was in 19/20 so after that it would not be Drai but one of Kuch or Drai.

The only superior seasons are last year MacK and Kuch and McDavid in his career year.

Matthews has never had more than 107 points..the doesn't belong there.
Drai had more points in the COVID shortened season...that says it all.

Don't hurt your back moving those goal posts.

So goals don't matter then? Then Kucherov and Mac > Draisaitl this season.

Goals matter when it's close but not when it's not... Matthews was over 30% behind in points last year to the top..that's the production of a mediocre 2nd line player in between.
That doesn't take away that his 60 goals season weren't great...it's not like Drai is a 30 goal player, he has had more 50 goals seasons than anybody not named Ovi.

Kuch is behind in points so I don't get your argument there...
and don't let me start with all this EN point stuff.

Drai in the shortened season was on pace for 50g/ 127p in a lower scoring season.

@daver

But I like that you are trying to argue and not only say something without putting work and context in it :-)

If we're going by full seasons than its Kuch or Mack, but if we're going by dominant stretches of play, its Matthews ANIEC

Kuch
MacK
Makar

Matthews and Draisaitl shouldn’t even be in the discussion

Draisaitl is in the midst of what could turn out to be a Hart-Lindsay-Art Ross-Rocket winning season, to add to the Hart-Lindsay-Art Ross he already has, and his overall career. Of course he belongs in the discussion.

By what metrics?

I feel like the fact that Makar is even in this discussion means it's Makar lol.

Makes peak Erik Karlsson look avg in comparison.
