Anybody else watch this?

from Wikipedia:
Adolescence is a 2025 British crime drama television miniseries from Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham and directed by Philip Barantini. It centres around a 13-year-old schoolboy Jamie Miller, who is arrested for the murder of a classmate. Each episode is shot in one take. The miniseries received universal acclaim.
The storyline was pretty interesting, albeit depressing, but the real story is the amazing achievement in production to film each episode in one take (without hidden cuts!). Each of them are 50-65 minutes long and are filled with movement and dialogue, so as far as I know it really surpasses anything in the one-shot realm. It is really impressive.

My friend told me about it. He said it started off good but lost steam.

I think people are going into it with the idea that it is a "who done it" mystery type of situation, but it isn't that. It is more of a character study, so once the "mystery" is pretty much wrapped up at the end of episode 1, it really switches gears to how the situation unfolded and the impact is has on the people involved. All the way up to the end of the first episode I was expecting the "who done it" aspect to exist throughout all four episodes, but I'm not going to knock it for not stretching it out.

That being said, I loved it. Delving into the "hidden" online world of kids, how something horrific impacts the family of the offender, and the one shot style in all four episodes is great.

The third episode was phenomenal. It doesn't have nearly the high level of camera choreography that the first two had, but I love me a good bottle episode. Especially when that bottle episode is psychological warfare between two people.

Not totally unfair, but I think the craft makes up for it. At only 4 episodes it is worth a watch, but the last episode is a little tough, especially if you are a parent.

I'll definitely watch it eventually, especially since it's a short limited series.

Really great mini-series that puts focus on what a lot of young men today have to grow up with and how it can cause them to become radicalized misogynists, or more simply put, red pilled.

If you have young kids you should watch this series.

I echo this. Me and my wife watched it together. Our oldest (son), is going into middle school next year and my wife said this just scares her for what we have coming.

As for the series, it's a sad story and can be depressing. The production was great and I really enjoyed it.

I've seen complaints about it being too depressing, or not enough happens, or no who done it...but like said above this is a character study. You get to see how something like this affects all involved directly and indirectly. As a father, the last episode/scene hits hard.

I have one daughter, who is well-adjusted, studying chemistry at a good college, and we have a close relationship: and that last line still hit me like a Mack truck

I'm about finished with the second episode and it's turning into a drag.

Nothing is really happening and the character development isn't interesting.

With all the hype this got in the media, I was expecting something groundbreaking.

In reality, it's just a bunch of spoiled kids acting like brats while the adults try to figure out what happened.

Again, I might be overly critical because of the hype, but that's my two cents.

Second episode was the worst for me. Not much character development can be done in 4 episodes with no cuts and time skips between episodes.

Going into this I was expecting a 'did he do it or not' kind of show and was expecting some mystery even after the first episode, but it was not. Really the third episode was where I understood what the show was really about and I felt like it was the best one out of the four.

I'd rate this a solid 8/10 mostly due to good acting and the production.

Other way around for me. I thought the last 2 episodes were the strongest.
1st and 4th episodes were the top for me, 3rd I found was pretty strong, but wasn't quite there, the second just felt so inconsequential, I felt it could have been a fresher more raw episode 4 and episode 4 was raw enough

Parent of 2 teenage boys, here. That last episode hurt for a while after watching it. Really well done. Man, that was emotional.
I really liked episode 1, I felt it was masterfully done, you wanted to believe the kids was telling the truth even right to the end. The fourth was fantastic, it was a really tough, heartbreaking and raw watch, and really covered something not often examined, I think the only other medium I can recall a somewhat similar tone/theme was "We need to talk about Kevin"
