At the end of the day, the question is what is the cost? We are not trading the first rounder, that is obvious. Dubas slammed the door on that one last year. We will end up with a reasonably priced fill in.

You do realize we have our 2024 1st Round Pick right? Or is Dubas going to do something to that while he's in Pittsburgh?


Ideally we want a Top2/3 D, but I think we'll just get insurance players unless we do a package.

Not really for bringing back Lybushkin, sure he can hit, but that's about it. Seems like most would welcome him back though.

Looking at these names I would prefer they just went with what they had.

There's no use trading for a plug. That's what most of these guys are. They shouldn't be wasting assets on a chump.

Just get the best damn defenseman there is.

Even if it costs an arm and a leg. Do they want to win the cup or not? The Leafs need to be stacked to the titties going into these playoffs.

A good hockey team is like a good porno.

With lots of studs in the lineup. The more the better. Nobody wants another impotent old man like Giordano.

Or any of the duds on this list either for that matter.

Parayko has both the highest risk and reward attached to him out of all the options listed. He's locked in for the long term and also the closest to being a legit top pairing d-man. Conversely, he'd also be an expensive gamble in both trade and AAV if he falls short of being what he currently is.

Carrier and Walker could be the other decent adds from the list if the price were to reasonable.

I'm kinda partial to Dmen how hit and block shots, in no particular order

* Seeler (Philly) 3rd pairing dman shoots left plays both sides, blocks a shit tonne of shots and hits a bit too, super cheap at league min.
* Ferraro (SJS) 2nd pairing dman is a LD, was rumored to be avail earlier in the season, decent cap hit at a little over 3 mil, 157 blocked shots / 90ish hits. to give context Tanev who was coveted for his shot blocking, has 14 more blocked shots with 2 more GP. Not a big dude at 5'11"
* Middleton (Minny) - Cheap, 2nd pairing Dman, LD, big



SCOUTING REPORT - Seeler

The physical defenseman has to use his size to his advantage and play a sound defensive game to be useful because he is not going to generate a lot of offense at the National Hockey League level. Has to keep his game simple and avoid mistakes in his own zone to compensate for a lack of top-end skating skills. Can play on either side of the ice, which adds to his value as a depth player.
Long Range Potential : Organizational depth defenseman.

SCOUTING REPORT - Ferraro

He is proving that he can take on more responsibilities as he moves into his mid-20s and fleshes out his game. Is a solid puck mover and an increasingly effective defender who keeps his cool even when he is pressured by opposing forwards. He can play in any situation, can devour huge minutes and may be most effective when paired with an offensive-minded partner.
Long Range Potential : Solid puck-moving defenseman.

The big, strong defenseman is learning that the path to success in the NHL for a player at his skill level means keeping things simple (and not try to do more than he is capable of doing). He is not much of an offensive threat, but his willingness to play a solid, stay-at-home game makes him ideal as a partner for someone who wants to join the rush.
Long Range Potential: Complementary partner for an offensive defenseman.
