You are denying the effects of a toxic environment though. Galchenyuk spent close to 5 years in a toxic environment under Therrien, and you expect him to turn it around the minute he's out of that environment? Like seriously that makes no sense, anyone in a toxic environment for a long time will have long lasting consequences.

I’m not denying it, Galchenyuk had more success here than everywhere else.

It’s not like he was never able to have success, clearly some things worked out for him pretty well in Montreal. He can’t even find a contract anywhere else in the league, the guy is constantly hunting for a Pto !

296pts in 490 games, should have been enough for him to be a solid to an okay player elsewhere in the league. And those numbers include his first year in Arizona.

It’s not like he left Montreal and suddenly became a player, the complete opposite happened.

And when you factor in his reputation outside of the ice, there’s no wonder that he failed to become a player in this league. He didn’t put in the work. You are ignoring this part, which I do not understand. I can see that multiple things can affect a player and sometimes a mix of factors. But you refuse to put blame on the player himself. Anyone who is closely associated to Montreal’s night life will tell you, it was bad on his part. He did not put in the work.

You’re acting like Galchenyuk was mistreated on a constant basis, brother he’s a millionaire living the high life everyday. Could they have taken other decisions regarding his development, sure, but that does not guarantee he would have been better than what he was.

What was really toxic about his environment was the presence of his father and his complete inability to act like a professional and put in the work necessary to be better.

Clearly, you have a strong opinion about the Therrien/Bergevin era, and thats fine nobody can deny that some aspects weren’t great. I didn’t like Therrien either, but I can’t understand how it’s hard to see how much of a responsibility players hold.
