Value of: Adam Fox

What are you looking for? I'd imagine that the Sabres could put together a pretty enticing offer.

Something like:

Owen Power (or Bowen Byram if you/Rangers would prefer him)
JJ Peterka OR Jack Quinn

That'd be the start. I would imagine you'd need another solid piece. 2025 1st, top 5 protected?

I'd imagine that the only 2 real untouchables for Buffalo would be Dahlin and Benson. MAYBE Tuch. I'd prefer to hold onto Helenius, but completely understand if he needed to be that other solid piece.

Need probably 1 young top 6/top 4 roster player with significant control or term
Another likely roster piece
2 A prospects / A+ prospect
A- prospect / 1st

He wouldn’t waive so it’s moot. He already forced himself to the rangers. It’s not like it was an east coast thing or not wanting to play in Canada because he wouldn’t go to Carolina after the flames moved him there either

Fox is untouchable. The Rangers are already thin on D. Moving their franchise dmen signed long term who basically forced his way here would require an absolute king's ransom. Fox is 26. If Drury decided to rebuild or retool, Fox would have the team now and in the future.

he would get a ransom.
Idk, given what he did to Calgary and Carolina, there'd be a certain amount of hesitancy for any GM outside of NY one would think. Almost zero chance they move him anyway, but especially given that as he's made it pretty clear he won't play anywhere else

If you want Fox, there are no untouchables.

This offer is laughable.

For us, there are.

And I think it's a decent offer, but we mainly need defensive D, not PMD.
Ya, Power went first overall for a reason, plus a high first rounder, plus Quinn/Peterka?! That is a tremendous start!

To BUF:
- A. Fox

To NYR:
- O Power
- JJ Peterka
- 1st Rounder (top 5 protected)

As a starting point, what's so laughable with something like this? It's not like he's suggesting Power + a 2nd in 2027 ... as an outsider, it's a reasonable starting point - I'm not going to speak to whether NYR/BUF should do it though.

He was a 2016 pick correct? So, his UFA status would actually begin 25/26 season. So, any trade protection would begin July 1, 2025.

But, last thing any club wants is an unhappy player. So, not getting him unless he's ok with going there.

The offer would be fine if it wasn't for a star player, in his prime, signed long term. There are less than a handful of Adam Fox's in the league. He's 1 of 3. Playing one of the most difficult positions to find in the NHL. The Sabre's wouldn't be trading for a top pairing dmen. They would be trading for a top-3 dmen in the league.

Sorry, what is it you think this proves exactly??
He was an unsigned draft pick that refused to sign with the Flames, then refused to sign with Carolina, so they shipped him off to New York. His NMC/NTC doesn't kick in until July 1st of this year with 4 years remaining on his contract, which means Drury can send him to the moon for all he cares and there is nothing Fox can do about it.

Ok, and what GM would trade a fortune for a guy doesn't want to play for their team?

Fox can refuse to report which would breach his contract with the team and become a UFA. That scenario doesn't help the Rangers. Drury wouldn't trade Fox anyway so it's a pointless conversation, just like this thread.

ooooohkay. And the Rangers would need someone to tango with that has both the cap space to accommodate the deal and the pieces required to move Fox for. Oh and not to mention he'd wanna play in that vicinity....That eliminates about 85% of the league....it's kinda moot because the Rangers shouldn't be trading him anyways but my point is his value as a top 3 dman in the league as you put it would be put to the test when putting together and actual trade...

31 GMs. What is he going to do, sit out. His contract will get tolled, he'll get suspended without pay, and then eventually have to play. You think Trouba wants to be in Anaheim?

For starters, it takes a weak point of the Ranger roster and makes it even weaker. For Fox the first would not be protected. And Peterka is a fine piece, but not to make up the difference between Fox and Power.
Fox is also signed for another 4 seasons, in his prime, at a reasonable contract.

A move for Fox needs to hurt. Does this offer hurt for a team like Buff? Does this offer convince the Rangers to trade him? I don't think so.

Play like he doesn't want to be there, which has been seen b4. Not saying I think he would necessarily, but those fears along with his proven history would scare off most GM's from selling the fam for him imo. No matter what way you slice it, the way he ended up a Ranger in the first place hurts his trade value, that should be obvious.
