Watched the Tag Thompson goal in Rangersboy post. Fox doesn't look good on it but I will say two things in Fox's defense on the play.

1. Lindy and Shesty also looked bad on it. In fact I think Shesty may have made 2 bad plays on it.

2. Given the size difference I'm not sure what else Fox could do outside of tripping him. I think he was already going to get a delayed holding penalty.

I think there's a healthy medium with some takes where we can acknowledge that Fox is probably having the worst season of his career (which is still better than a lot of people's best!) and there's legitimate concerns such as his skating while also acknowledging he's still playing at a high level which is backed up by stats. I'm hoping another summer removed from those knee injuries gets his skating back to where it was before because that's the biggest problem I've seen this year. He just doesn't have that extra step which would help him beat a lot of players at the blue line as well as along the boards. He wasn't the best skater before the injuries and he looks a lot worse since.
thats the worrisome thing, who gets their skating ability back after an injury? especially with a guy who already wasnt great? it’s concerning moving forward, IMO. especially im a league that’s getting bigger and faster every year.

The greats have drive to be the best regardless of money. There’s some guy on this site, I forget who, who said Fox used to be a Prentis (sp?) gym guy, the place where CK goes, and that once he got his payday, he dumped the gym to workout on his own

Move his feet to establish some body position instead of half ass hooking at him hoping someone else would come over and help him defensively which is normal. That entire play was embarrassing. All of it. The entire team was basically stick checking for 40 minutes of the game today. You need better from your team leaders.

What were the numbers -best to worst- for our D last night...from 1-6 . Anyone care to rank them via the eye test..

I only watched the first period and then switched to Reacher who had more saves in the first 20 minutes then Igor had and he looked big and quite mobile . He would not need the high heeled skates.

Nobody looked good last night but its hard to judge guys fairly when Igor was so shaky. #18 was on the ice for a lot of goals. I think Borgen was only on for maybe 1 goal? I'd personally be playing Jones unless we are 100% going to trade him. I'm still open to keeping him because I see some positive traits that might be better in a different defensive system.

It was nice to see him join the rush with speed tonight on the goal. The shot should have been stopped but a goal is a goal. Was just nice seeing him put in the effort to get into the rush in a more meaningful way.

Goal and an assist. Happy for him.
Yes...although he was on for at least two against early attempting to against some formidable opponents [Malkin the manhandler ]....I was paying attention and TageT the game previous ....but I was informed or everybody was. in an earlier post ... by some experts? here that he did not face them guys anymore of late . I guess they even get it wrong at times.... The graphs and charts do not tell it all .....I'll have to take a feather back.

He was a lot worse on the Malkin goal than Vaakanainen was. I'm not sure what Vaakanainen can do. He had Malkin in a full nelson and Malkin got the puck anyway.

That play started with Fox's useless poke into the corner instead of doing anything else.

As a matter of fact, I put more blame on Fox there than on the Thompson goal, which was kind of the same situation Vaakanainen was in. A guy 9 feet tall drove to the net. There should have been help but everyone stood there.

Fox has had uncharacteristically poor decision making at times. I think his struggles are in his head.
