I'm expecting him to win the Norris at this point. There has been so much social media noise about it.
If people vote Hedman in, they know that they will get lambasted about it, and their only defense will be that Tampa is a playoff team. I would be embarrassed to try to defend that bad decision with that irrelevant point.

Pavel Buchnevich (the poster) still believes this. I feel like he gets all of his opinions from HFNYR but fails to update them quick enough.
This is where I can't fathom how anyone thinks Quinn is a good coach. You don't have to know a thing about hockey to know that if the other team is tired you don't put your worst line out there. And then Rooney with his pea brain did exactly what you'd expect Rooney to do.

Honestly, Hedman can shove the Norris up his fat ass. Not saying his ass is fat, well maybe it is, I dunno, but you get it. I just love watching Fox every game even when the Rangers lose, he is just awesome.

Listening to Kyper today, brought up two points that kinda work against Foxy for Norris (btw, Kyper is a big fan of Foxy and was the guy trying to make the case for him over Hedman):
1. No player has won the Norris when their team misses the playoffs
2. Only one player has won the Norris in his second season - Bobby Orr
Now, these are not normal circumstances, we are playing the hardest division in the league, less games, etc. But just interesting. I won't be surprised when they don't give it to him, because let's face it 90% of these awards are based on arbitrary bullshit anyway.

I really do hate that one of the unwritten rules that voters follow is "did their team make the playoffs?"

i get factoring in the playoffs for hart trophy which is most valuable, not the best player, but the norris is just the best dman not the most valuable dman. voters 100% factor it in plus reputation but they shouldn't.
Bob won the Vezina in the lockout shortened season. Was the first time a non-playoff player won it I believe (should have been Henrik’s regardless).

Lol so annoyed that Quinn put the 4th line out after that shift. Put the the Mika or Strome line out there and possession continues until a goal is scored.
Fox loses the norris because the youngest team at the time lost a few games to the devils at the beginning of the strangest season in history. Goodness gracious.

It's hilarious.
The Bolts play like a contender with and without Hedman on the ice.
The Rangers are bad without Fox on the ice, and are contenders when he is on the ice.
Fox is easily the better Norris candidate than Hedman, and frankly you can't argue otherwise outside of "tenure" and "Lightning will make the playoffs and Rangers likely won't" which are both absolute trash arguments.

If these are the kind of people that are voting on the Norris, Fox has no chance.
Doug Maclean - "To become a Norris trophy winner... I still think you got to be able to get it done at playoff time to move into that category" also added a bunch of nonsense on toughness and being mean. Then going onto say Carlson and Hamilton should be in the running because their teams are in 1st and the kids, Fox, Makar and Hughes get in line behind them until they've done the job at playoff time.

Plenty of people who think Fox should be in the running are voting. I.E. Dom L is a member of the voters.
I generally agree though that MacLean is echoing what a lot of them think, even though it should have nothing to do with it.
I'm not going to comment on toughness. I think it's outdated thinking that you have to be mean and tough to be a good defenseman but at least it's not dishonest. What IS dishonest is blatantly voting for a regular season award based on a previous year's playoff performance. That's NOT the criteria and it's bullshit.
