Confirmed with Link: Adam Foote Named Head Coach of the Vancouver Canucks

So sound sounds like the issue is he doesn't have anyhead coaching coaching experience? To me that's a positive. A rookie head coach is raw and has a chance to implement his own system of something we have never seen before. Everyone mad about "he's going to implement the Tocchet system" is putting the cart in front of the horse.

Him being a rookie is a strength. Perfect mix of familiarity (which is a good thing) and wildcard of a rookie coach.

Let him cook!

I feel like there are reasons why teams at the professional level have specifically not let him cook.

A rookie 53-year old coach. He's just a little kid full of potential.

Put in little effort.

Clearly Allvin and JR are now mailing it in.

Time to reciprocate with endless shit posts.

As mentioned in the HC thread, in order to complete this timeline in Canucks-fashion ... Malhotra must be named Bruins HC after the AHL playoffs. He will then go on to be the next Brind'Amour.
To add fuel to the fire, Malhotra's son Caleb is committed to Boston University for 2026.

Why do we hate this so much? Legit don't get the uproar. He wasn't my first choice but I fail to see how this is an automatic fail? Give the guy a chance, I know I will.
Because this city is full of a bunch of miserable people who are mortgaged up to the eyeballs, overweight, stuck in traffic in a city of 4 million with two lanes from Horseshoe Bay to Hope, listejing to meat puppets like Sekeres and JPat, eating entirely too many Big Macs, the hockey team sucks and we have a beer league soccer team playing with a beer league football team in an eyesore of a dump of a dome and a transit system that was outdated in 1986.

You know it’s ok to criticize the team right?

Since they haven't announced the assistant coaches, hopefully its because they can't until Malhotra and Love's seasons are over.

Malholtra has already been an assistant coach with two NHL teams (albiet maybe the lowest ranking guy), it would be odd him to come back unless it was for an associate coach position or an assistant gig with very specific succession plan in place.

This is such a Canuck Fan response. Can we wait till he blows it with the team before we run him out of town. I think Foote did good as an assistant year so he deserves a chance. If not, dump him to the curb - can't be an any worse year than this already and if it appeases Quinn all the good. You can't replace a guy like that.
I have hopes for ownership. With defense focus we'll actually make the playoffs now like he wants so bad. We won't get anywhere, but at least we'll make the playoffs.

Best we can hope for now is EPSr for Selke.

With the way these playoffs are going, the trend with goalies is now going to be tandems which we got. Demko has no trade value thanks to his injuries and he's still the better goalie. And we'll need Lankenin because of that fear, so we're set in that category.

Absolutely. I'm going to try and be positive for a few minutes.

I was negative as f*** from2015-2022.

Going to walk the lab and smoke a gagger and be thankful for another day upright.

I don’t mind the hiring..it will be interesting to see who his assistants are?
If they were not going to land a big shot coach they really wanted, this was the next best option.

Gotta dust off the old sign:

"On the evidence this is a poor decision"

"Give them a chance!"

*turns out poorly*

"Hindsight!"

My thoughts, too.

This isn't nothing, to me. But again, hard to tell what sort of coach Foote is going to be as there's very little body of work with him being head coach of a team.

I am gonna be honest this mean absolutely nothing to me. How does this help Petey returning form but hey our pk and defensive structure will be good. Also, Josh Norris trade in coming?

I mean, Foote is the Head Coach now. I'm rooting for him to succeed, for Petey to bounce back, and for all of the good things to occur. Would I have hired someone different? Yeah, Malhotra would have been my choice. But for better or for worse, I'm hoping for Foote to succeed at the (many) things we need him to succeed at.

My initial feelings on the hiring are kind of lukewarm. We'll see how it all unfolds.

We know how it unfolds. It’s not gonna be successful. Canucks doing the opposite of what seems to be the right choice literally never works
